Yori Resigns Amid Investigation

Nebraska women’s basketball coach Connie Yori has resigned after a two-month long investigation by the Nebraska athletic department into allegations Yori mistreated players and fostered a negative, dysfunctional culture, multiple sources confirmed to the Journal Star.

Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst, in a statement to the Journal Star on Tuesday, confirmed Yori is no longer Nebraska’s coach, ending her 14-year tenure as the most successful coach in program history.
A source with knowledge of the situation, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Journal Star more than 10 players from the 2015-16 team, along with some support staff members, approached Nebraska athletic department administrators in early February with concerns about Yori’s treatment of players.
The athletic department immediately addressed those concerns and began an extensive investigation and review that included having an administrator present at every practice.
"We are aware of allegations involving our women’s basketball program and since it is an employee personnel matter and involves our student’s privacy, we cannot provide details," Eichorst told the Journal Star in an exclusive.

Reads like a sub-plot from Varsity Blues.

Good hire Harvey. Kind of kidding, and kind of not. The hire did happen under his watch.

And until this, she has been a very respected and relatively successful coach.

I would say...yes....it was a good hire at the time. It's virtually impossible to predict these things unless there was some type of indication the administration knew things like this happened at her previous stops.

Lets see. You give a statement in a department culture review that isn't favorable of the culture currently in place. That gets leaked out early. All of the sudden your boss has someone attend every single thing you do meeting and practice wise looking for anything to find just cause. He finds what he needs, says he's terminating, she states she'll counter sue they work out a deal where she gets most of her remaining contract.

Coach is now being defended by a very solid former player and former coaches at NU. Her, Miles and Bo were very close knit from those who know them.

Miles is up next.

FWIW....the tinfoil hat club was saying that perlman was the shadowy figure behind the "agenda". interesting that he is out before yori and miles who are supposed targets of the agenda.

I have no clue if that is all true but it sure does seem like something that some bosses would do. I have had a few in my time that were crazy...I have no idea if SE is like that.

These allegations are very vague. Anyone have more details? I'm unclear whether she went full-bore Bobby Knight and was screaming obscenitiies and throwing chairs or instead was just offering constructive criticism that some overly sensitive players couldn't handle.

That is what apparently what happened. This is what the investigation was all about, SE got a good review from them. So the bolievers and some of the powers are now free to be disappointed.
