Offer for Hicks from Kansas. Seems similar to Garrett? Both would do great for us

Hicks is a DE Garrett is a LB

Garrett out weighs Hicks by 15-20 pounds. They both translate to the same position in the 3-4. Neither will likely be big enough to play up front I wouldn't think

According to 247 those weights are accurate with Garrett at 235 and Hicks at 220. Sedrick King, Ben Stille, Alex Davis all fit the mold of 6'4-6'5 and about 250-260 linebacker. Why can't this kid? Garrett isn't playing up front some at bare minimum I'm not wrong on all of those.

Provide backing for your rational? I'll happily admit to being wrong, just doesn't seem like it's a possibility you can eliminate at this time in the 3-4

Also, he's quoted as saying Parrella specifically told him he could be either an OLB or DE. Article goes on to include his conversation with Riley where he was told he could play... you guessed it OLB or DE. The wording made it sound like it leaned towards OLB by the coaches, but his personal comfort level is DE where he's always played

As for the weight, Hicks's was updated and he's 230 as opposed to what 247 has so Garrett is only 5 pounds heavier.

Odd that none of the write-ups mentioned him. But he was at Friday Night Lights.

Has anyone noticed it doesnt seem like there is alot of buzz about any 2019 guys? I remember last year at this time there was a few name guys everyone was buzzing that we were in on. Or had a good shot at. Bookie being the main one. I just havnt noticed alot of buzz about next years class yet. Perception is not reality- just saying it doesnt seem like it has as much steam as 18.

A good player to watch as we get closer to this cycle is Garrett Snodgrass of York. Do it all player who is a tremendous athlete and can run well. Need to get him a scholly or at minimum a preferred walk on asap as he will be on other schools radar. I believe he plays in the state championship game on Monday and should be fun to watch.

Looks like the current number is 19+3+ however many players transfer this Spring for 2019 class #’s

Should be 17+3 right?  Currently 17 scholarship seniors on the roster.

I don't think they can because I don't think he's left yet.

Isn't that part of the '+3' this year though?  If he leaves after the Spring semester he doesn't count for 2018.

Yes, but he's a senior anyway so one way or the other he'll be gone after next year.

If he would have left at semester we could have added one more to the 2018 class.  He won't count against the 2019 class either way.

No debate there, guess it just depends on if they do use one of the +3 oversigns to fill his spot when he leaves or give the scholarship to a Senior walk-on.

Just depends on how many leave.  Obviously they have to "use" the +3 and get back down to 85 one way or the other.  If there are more than 3 than they'll be given to walk-ons.

Frost and Crew stopped into Grayson while they were in Georgia.  Checking in on some of the '19 class.

South Dakota has a DE rated by 247 as a 4 star. Has visited Lincoln unofficially.

Seems to be some serious talent for 2019 within the 500 mile radius.

So starting to look ahead...

1. How many OV’s do we have left to use for the Spring Game?

2. What are we thinking we do as far as a Junior Day plan?

3. What are your guys thoughts on FNL camps this summer?

4. Do we end up doing satellite camps?

Will be interesting to see how and who they use these on.

Send a message to the Burke boys and choose them.

Mainly joking, as that would be a waste. I do think it'd send a message though.

Two

Does this rule apply though?

https://web3.ncaa.org/lsdbi/search/bylawView?id=102517#result

If so, it looks like there might be 6 extra to use, which would be great.  If not, Riley still managed to get a lot of guys on campus for the Spring game without official visits, so I'm sure Frost can too.

I believe that is already counting six back and still leaving us with two.

It's hard to say what our official count is as there were several who took unofficial visits.  One site I looked at had us at 54, one had us at 57.  Each academic year they are allowed 56, but if they didn't use all of them in one year, then up to 6 extra can be used the following academic year.  Riley used 49 last year, so we should have 62 available for this year.  The trick is knowing how many they've actually used.  There could be around 8 official visits left for the spring game, but only someone in NU's athletic dept. could really answer this for sure.
