With Benhart's commitment, and Wandale and Wright committing this week (N or out we will know), N will sit at 20 or 21. With 6-8 spots remaining where do we go from here? Obviously, Safety is a priority with Pola-Gates and Bell being the most likely options. Corner? Pass rush? OL still?

Also, with a large majority of our class locked in, do we have the possibility of going after a big fish like Owen Pappoe? I mean, Frost already beat Auburn once, why not beat them again and add another Grayson player to our GA pipeline... Or are there any other big names we should keep an eye on as early signing signing period approaches?

I don't think Pappoe is changing his mind. As for corner, we are after Tavion Mayo and Jamel Starks. On the O-Line, We are likely taking a JUCO Tackle. We still need to get a pass rusher and maybe another Wide Receiver.

I'm really liking what I see us having when the early signing day comes in December.

There's a chance we sign as many as 24-25 players with maybe 8+ being 4 star players.  We are at 19 players with 6 4 stars right now.  Add Wandale Robinson and Bell for two more.  We could get another few commits before then.

That lines up nicely for the staff to be able to focus the last couple months of recruiting on a few key players.

For comparison.  Obviously the 19 class will change.

Some smoke Pappoe is leaning to Tenn.

Also sounds like we aren't overly concerned with getting a JUCO OT. Not saying we won't, but the report this morning was that it's not as high of a priority as some think.

There's a big difference between what's happening now in Lincoln and other classes on that list.

I think we could match or top the number of 4* players in the '11 class.  HOWEVER.....I hope, pray and expect this staff to get more out of them than previous staffs.

We've talked about it a lot on this board.  Way too often the higher rated players in those classes, didn't amount you much or didn't make it to campus at all.

Totally agree.  However, there are a lot of other factors contributing to how well they do once they get here.  Obviously you hope you are getting guys who will develop into the players you hope they will be.  But player development is a separate - though related - issue from recruiting, imo.

So I think comparing recruiting classes is fair.  And this class has the chance to be one of the top classes on that list in regards to how it is rated.  Which is awfully good considering they were at least a year behind recruiting most of these guys.

Word is JUCO OL is unlikely in this class now beyond what we already have.

19 commits right now.  24 open spots plus however many over-signs.  I continue to see speculation that we'll sign 28-29.

Current Scholarships/Commits

QB - 1 - LUKE McCAFFREY
RB - 3 - RAHMIR JOHNSON, RONALD THOMPKINS,  JUCO DEDRICK MILLS
WR - 3-4 - JAMIE NANCE, DARIEN CHASEWandale Robinson
TE - 1 - CHRIS HICKMAN
OT - 3-4 - MATTHEW ANDERSON, MICHAEL LYNN, BRYCE BENHART, Dohnovan West
OG/C - 2 - JUCO DESMOND BLAND

NT - 1-2 - JUCO TONY FAIR
DE - 2-3 - ETHAN PIPERMOSAI NEWSOM, Ty Robinson, Brant Banks
LB - 4-5 - GARRETT SNODGRASS, GARRETT NELSON, JACKSON HANNAH, NICK HENRICH
CB - 2 - QUINTON NEWSOME, Javin Wright, Tavian Mayo, Jarrad BakerNehemiah Pritchett
S - 2 - Jamel Starks, Noa Pola-Gates, Josh SanguinettiJUCO Markquese Bell

ATH - Zay Flowers

I think we take the following.

2 WR

1 OT

2 DE

2 CB

2 S

1 OLB

So that is ten plus more if transfers occur. I can easily see this class getting to thirty.

Didnt Gates put up like 12 bench reps at the combine. Imagine how good he could have been if he worked out. He pretty much got dominated by anyone who was any good on opposing teams.
