I forget, are we supposed to send T&P to situations like this too?

not sure.   was the shooter in the MAGA cult?   were the kids influenced by progressive ideology?  we need to know the facts before we can know who to send thoughts and prayers to

This is very reasonable and it would seem outlandish to disagree.

Too bad a lot of politicians have outlandish positions on the issue.

from a story about a shooting in texas last year i read that there are no red flag laws in texas.   i bet  they couldn't take his guns away.  in this story a guy was found not guilty of killing a 9 year old girl that he shot when he was trying to shoot a robber who was running away from him.

Rick Ramos, the attorney for the Alvarez family, said Wednesday that Earls’ actions were reckless and he questioned whether Earls was capable of carrying a weapon as his lawyers had indicated in court records that he had suffered from mental illness before the shooting.

But Thompson said issues of mental illness would not have made a difference in this case as Texas does not have red flag laws that would allow law enforcement or family members to ask a judge to order the seizure or surrender of guns from someone who is deemed dangerous, often because of mental health concerns or threats of violence

It turns out, the guy said the data was correct( with a rounding error). He just didn’t like how the data was packaged.   So let’s go 2/3rds of the way down his thread and use the all violent crime all race data and one will find black violent crime numbers represent just shy of 25%of that number while representing 13.5% of the population.   There is more to the story of why the data is what it is that needs exploring.   But it order to explore it, one needs to recognize it

The thread shows how misleading the bar chart is.

There will be mass shooters that don't fit anyone's "gotcha" agenda, and we should stop waiting breathlessly for the partisan skeleton in every closet.  Who could possibly be shocked that a Texas mass shooter was a neo-Nazi? Or that a disturbed trans person could wreak the same revenge?

That still leaves the shared narrative that high-capacity firearms are the preferred method for powerless people who want to leave this life in a blaze of recognition.
