Penn State to Honor Joe Paterno

Penn State should be prohibited by the Big Ten from participating in any sports for a period of 10 years and unless the PSU admits its absolute guilt and shame in this entire affair, they should be banished from the Big Ten membership as well. There are plenty of other 'good' schools that would honorably represent the Conference and NCAA athletics in general much better. Honoring a child molester (we all know these creeps 'hunt in packs') is hideous.

Joe Paterno a child molester? proof? accusations? "we all know these creeps "hunt in packs", what does that even mean? sounds like a medieval witch hunt quote. No we all dont know that, in fact thats a false statement as most pedos seem to act alone, it is pretty damn shameful after all.

Paterno reported what happened and could have done more, really it was schools responsibility once he reported it. But let's not go full drama queen with nonsensical hyperbole.

Paterno not doing more is an understatement. And those defending him like he did his part to solve the situation, are as discusting as he was. No drama gueen, just fact.

Paterno was a coach, it was not he's job to handle that, he reported it and likely considered it handled. It was up to the administration to deal with criminal issues not "detective" Paterno. The man was also from a generation where things like that "didnt exist" so he was an unlikely expert how to even respond to something like that, other then doing what he did, reporting it.

And yea calling him a molester is going full drama queen as there is no proof or even accusation of such.

Calling Penn State Pedo Uni is in the same realm of drama queen, though I get it's just some peoples dislike for the school and they juice one bad thing for all they can. In the end a few individuals were involved and the school is full of teachers and students who are like any other Americans.

Are you up to date with your knowledge on this or are you chiming in with 4-5 year old news? Because it sounds like the latter.

Calling Joe Pa a child molester, or implying it, is more than a little out-of-bounds. Nobody ever accused him of molesting children. Pull it back a little.

Saying that Joe "reported it" and his responsibility was over after that is just as ridiculous.

Michiganball I hope that you remember that Joe not only knew about Sandusky way back in the early 70's, but he personally called up the accuser and yelled at him (a child). It has also been proven that Penn State had been paying "hush money" to the victims since the 70's. With the knowledge that he had for so long, Joe kept him on staff, and allowed him complete freedom to continue molesting children for decades.

So, yeah, he sucks.

If Joe knew about it for decades, and of course he and many others all around the athletics departments knew, he IS a molester as far as I am concerned. Anyone who allows that kind of sick disturbed and horrible stuff is just as sick and disturbed. It is some of the worst possible behavior imaginable. So many were outraged over a simple DUI ticket and fender bender and wanted the 'death penalty' for Williams. To 'honor' a pedophile / child abuser / 'coach' as someone worthy of anything other than scorn and disgust is in itself disgusting. Shame on all who participate.

Considering that world hunger and many other calamities that hold dominion over humanity wont be solved on this forum and that Wisconsin B-slapped big bad lsu around, I urge a temporary truce until "Joe Paterno: the hero that made football" movie of the week comes out.

So you're just going to ignore the others' completely valid points after you throw your two completely incorrect cents out there. Neat. From now on whenever I'm arguing about something that a topic was specifically meant for, I'm just gonna use the "starving in China" line.

Yes, I will ignore your "completely" invalid points while having thrown in my "completely" correct ones. Congratulations on your future use of "starving in China" line.

Joe Pa is, by any definition, an accessory to child molestation.

He is additionally a possible member of a conspiracy to cover it up.

He should not be celebrated, he should be relegated to the dust bin of history. How the NCAA can allow PSU to celebrate this man is beyond me.

Yes, yea, uha, sure. I appreciate our difference of opinion, well said without use of hyperbole, though I liked you better when you were funny Conan.

PS

Grow back the beard.

How in the Hell is anyone even remotely sticking up for Paterno?!? Do you have any respect for children, for the lives that were completely destroyed by the acts or inactivity of this man? "This sort of thing didn't happen back then"? Yes, it did; obviously. At best, he was just too big of a piece of diseased $#!t to care about those children. But to give Sandusky allowance to more children?!? To try to cover up that it even happened at all?! That's just as bad as the actual molestation.

Even for those at the top that actually did not take care of the issue It's not as bad as an actual molestation, not even close. That's like saying if you smoke a joint, the terrorists win. And what are you talking about? He reported it. How do you cover up something when you actually report it? And do I really have to explain what a in quotation "that didn't happen back then" means? That it is not literal and not in reference to when the actual crime took place.

It means that roughly prior to late 60's those things were not talked about, or were swept under the table, hence were treated as they did not exist. That was the culture and if you like you can blame all of America for bringing up it's young men and women in that environment. Seriously I shouldn't have to explain this as those are know social criticism's of the era's.

Now, one can disagree with me that that is not important, fine I believe it is, but damn at least understand the argument.

I believe it's not he's job to be the detective after reporting the issue and that he was a product of the old generation, after all there was nothing to gain for him by creating some masterful deception to protect a pedophile. Did he get money? Fame? No, he got a easily replaceable coach.

Now I get that there are differing points of view and thats fine and this thread can just go on in infinity with same exact things being repeated(unfortunately with just a few who can do so coherently without the hyperbole), he's satan, pitchfork, hate Penn state, think of all the children of the world, he's Satan pedo, pitchfork. It's not going to change my mind to keep repeating the same thing and I'm not going to change anyone's mind who believes otherwise. So maybe it's best to just cut and paste all our reply's over and over, save some time?

He did not need to be Sherlock Holmes to 'detect' the creep's actions. How can anyone condone or look the other way while this 'coach' was taking little boys in the locker room showers, taking them on team road trips and into his motel rooms over night, etc etc etc. Nobody with any sense of right and wrong can tolerate anything like this from one of his 'friends/employees/fellow coaches'. This went on for decades and with many children. It is absolutely outrageous. Paterno and any other adult anywhere near or around this kind of crap has a moral and arguably legal obligation to act to prevent the on-going abuse and prevent future abuse. To simply say "he reported it to someone" and then forever he may wash his hands of the criminality is just plain incomprehensible. In fact, as I have said already, anyone who knowingly ignores and or tolerates this crime spree (Sandusky was a pedophile - a serial child rapist) for decades right in front of his (huge) nose, is a guilty as the rapist himself. You are either completely repulsed and disgusted by this kind of crime or you approve of it. Anyone who approves of this sort of action is disgusting as well. There is no debate on this one people.

I'm aware of the new allegations, it's a still wait and see. Press loves this, it sells papers and now It's even easier to have allegations when the defendant can no longer defend himself. Going to look what he's family and lawyers have to say about that. once they finish their investigation. then take that into account and weight it out. Though I dont see how it's going to change my opinion on him being a product of decades of our backward society regarding rape, child abuse, spousal abuse etc...

Like I said, to be conspiratorial you at least need a motive that gives great benefit. Keeping a replaceable coach is not one of them.

The reason it's just as bad is that he had the power to fire him and didn't. Whether he covered it up or not, he continued to give him the means to actually do the molestations. Even after he was retired he was doing camps at the university. To know about it and just let him keep on doing it, is just as bad. He could have taken that avenue away from him. But Paterno made it too easy for him. That's if he DIDN'T cover it up and simply reported it. He kept him on staff. Obviously he didn't give a damn for those kids.
