Scratchtown
All-Conference
Wow. Just wow. That was a helluva game played by both teams. Big league atmosphere. I've been to many Husker games and have always downplayed the "home field advantage" blaming old people for being quiet. Saturday was so freaking loud and I sat there wondering when these people were going to shut up. Haha!
I sat in section 101. Great seats. I've never been in the NW corner before. It was a GREAT view. That dang sun just never went down. It was HOT!
Fans around me were pretty good. I'll admit I was a little obnoxious toward others initially till the Long Island's wore off. I was BEGGING for someone to get after me, and no one would. Except the one guy behind me kept yelling at me "Duck you!". I thought that was funny actually.
TA. That guy might be special this year. Didn't think it could happen. Long season to go yet but it looks like he's made strides. Granted. Oregon secondary/defense isn't very good.
Lots of people kept telling me that Royce Freeman could have made the difference and I kept telling people no he wouldn't have because Oregon still ran for north of 300 yards. 2 pt conversions. Oregon had the matchups they needed to score on them, left side of the formation Nebraska had 2 guys to Oregon's 3. Interesting thing is, that instead of a back up QB taking the snap like it used to be, they had Nelson back there, who can't throw. Head scratchers for sure. Nelson never executed the right way. NU running game will be very good this year, another thing I wasn't sure would happen. This is due to TA's ability to be more accurate throwing the football.
Ziggy is SO good.
I was about to leave the game when the score got to 28-20, but decided to stay to see what Oregon did on offense. I didn't expect Langs to quit running the football. But then again, I swear that guy snaps himself with a rubber band every time he calls a run play. NU could have scored on every possession in the second half if Langs doesn't try to get cute. At some point I worry that will cost his team.
Outlook looks good for NU this year. Oregon? not so much. I'm very very worried about the next 5. Colorado, WSU, Washington, Cal, Arizona St.
The last 4 aren't cake walks either. USC, Stanford, Utah, and the Civil War.
I hope Oregon can win ball games for you guys. I'm just not sure if there are ANY gimmes. Could possibly be 2-10. Doubt it, but you just never know. Congrats on the win! I hope it is the springboard NU needs.
