TGHusker
Trump at odds wt Bolton on Venz?? https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-says-senior-adviser-wants-075524455.html Quote Donald Trump is questioning his administration’s aggressive strategy in Venezuela following the failure of a US-backed effort to oust Nicolás Maduro, complaining he was misled about how easy it would be to replace the socialist president with a young opposition figure, according to administration officials and White House advisers. The president’s dissatisfaction has crystallised around national security adviser John Bolton and what Mr Trump has groused is an interventionist stance at odds with his view that the United States should stay out of foreign quagmires. Mr Trump has said in recent days that Mr Bolton wants to get him “into a war” – a comment he has made in jest in the past but that now belies his more serious concerns, one senior administration official said. The administration’s policy is officially unchanged in the wake of a fizzled power play last week by US-backed opposition leader Juan Guaidó. But US officials have since been more cautious in their predictions of Mr Maduro’s swift exit, while re-assessing what one official described as the likelihood of a diplomatic “long haul”. And Putin of course doesn't want the USA to act in Venz - they want to keep their puppet in place so they lean on the puppet they have in the WH. Guy Chamberlin
George W. Bush was pretty vulnerable in 2003, but won reelection because he was President and there were American boots on the ground. That wasn't by accident. Donald Trump is even more inclined to play the Commander in Chief card. It will not be good for the U.S., Iran, or any of our supposed allies. 1 Link to comment

I don’t think it would work as well for Trump but it is a different climate now. Maybe people have gotten dumber. But back then the U.S. had just been attacked and people already didn’t like Iraq and the fact that we pulled out of the first war. I think/hope there’s a bigger uphill battle in convincing people we should be at war with Iran and that it won’t work. Obviously there are some idiots who’d think it’s a good idea but hopefully they’re in the minority. Link to comment
