I thought it was gross when Nehlen put out a #It'soktobewhite tweet the other day. I guess he felt the need to go 0 to 60 shortly thereafter on the subject.

@Moiraine those are some interesting thoughts on the state of media consumption today. I think you're mostly right. Not only are the aging Boomers (& older) less likely to be skeptical of news they see on TV (or on social media, if they use it, for that matter), they seem to be the biggest Fox News base generation, AFAIK.

On the other end of the spectrum, Millennials & Gen Z are less likely to be reliant on cable news as a source of information, but more likely to seek bias-confirming sources online & many still retain the lack of critical thinking necessary to parse through what may be junk reporting or outright fabrications if it suits their worldview.

You hit the nail on the head about Trump & Russia. They are active purveyors of misinformation who are actively hostile towards any media reporting anything that is bad for their agenda.

So, to recap: too many old folks implicitly trust/love Fox News as real news, too many young people live in a media bubble & lack critical thinking regarding media, & the President/hostile foreign powers attack real media they don't like & promote highly questionable drivel or out-and-out fake news to preserve an agenda & foment tribalism.

You're right, this is a toxic brew.

The man who has boasted about grabbing women by the genitals, who cannot distinguish truth from falsity, whose ignorance is only exceeded by his hatefulness, who disses allies and puffs up dictators, whose daily intelligence briefings have been dumbed down to approach the level of The Cat in the Hat, whose own secretary of State reportedly has called him a "moron," is more of a malevolent Forrest Gump than anything resembling a master statesman.

This whole Hillary thing is getting real old and it’s so easy to see how republicans are being played on the issue.

During the election, all we heard was “lock her up”.

Trump even said said in a debate he would throw her in jail.

Once elected, Trump proclaims he isn’t going to prosecute her.

Now, the heat is getter no turned up on the Russia election, we are back to “lock her up”.

They are are so easily played.

One of the funniest things that's come from this spat Trump & Sarah Sanders have generated with the press is how the press chooses to show them in the photos they publish.  These awkward looks on their faces aren't accidents.

This is what you get when you act like little children to the people who publish the news.
