You may have "felt" like that but the numbers don't lie - he is still trending to be the nominee for the GOP.

True. DeSantis was gaining ground and then I read he fell way back again at some conservative conference recently. Trump was over 50%.

It's almost like we need to revisit the short lived "OMG" thread.

trump said he could shoot someone and not lose any of his supporters     and it seems he was right.   matter of fact...i think he might gain supporters if he shot someone on 5th avenue.  that is how f#&%ed up the right is now

I don't think Dem policies are very popular on the right or for some independents. The social issues, even global warming don't move the needle. I am not saying they shouldn't, but I do not believe they do. Some independents will keep Trump out...others will vote policy others third party. I am now fearing this will be another Trump Biden battle.

Plenty of Dem policies are broadly popular even in the Right.

The voters just don't realize they're Dem policies. Or they openly embrace those policies but vote for Republicans because of identity politics.

I am curious which ones...I am not looking for proof...but I am curious.

Identity politics is usually pinned on the Dems, but in this case I assume you mean they are just going to vote republican, regardless.

Well the main way Republicans play identify politics is to pin "socialist" on whatever the Dems propose, implying it's both un-American and anti-business when it's often the very formula of federal business incentives, big government infrastructure, public education and social safety nets that have long served this great nation of ours -- the Capitalists as well as the people who make up their employees, customers, and fellow citizens.

Everybody hates some regulation, but most support most regulations. We seem to appreciate clean air and water, safe food, and protected parkland. Most of us don't care what other people do in their personal lives.

Identity politics lets you label all of this an unhinged liberal agenda, and encourages you to vote at the behest of a shockingly small number of people who will benefit from making the world a s#!ttier place.

Obamacare is a great example. GOP states decided to ban together and sue the government over providing those states with free money to expand medicare/ACA expansion. Those politicians were rewarded with reelection while the citizens of most of those states - including Nebraska - have voted to expand those services.

Higher minimum wage is a similar example. Nebraska politicians routinely vote against it, get reelected anyway, and the citizens have passed a ballot measure to raise the minimum wage anyway. The same is true in many other states.

Popular programs like social security is another example. Raising taxes on the wealthy or getting rid of the income cap is extremely popular on the Right. Republican politicians routinely vote against any tax raising measure - even those that target the wealthy - and their politicians get elected anyway.

Identity politics is why a party can field terrible candidates - like New York Democrats - or huge swaths of the GOP and keep winning.  It's why Republicans vote against popular legislation and go back to their districts to brag about passing things they voted against.  Truthfully, entire books have been written about why popular policies supported by Democrats fail to yield more electoral gains.

That is what they are arresting Trump for? I have honestly been out of country and not paying attention. I find it hard to fathom that people in power do time for such things. It would be great if people in power were held accountable, it just rarely seems to  happen.
