That is what they are arresting Trump for? I have honestly been out of country and not paying attention. I find it hard to fathom that people in power do time for such things. It would be great if people in power were held accountable, it just rarely seems to  happen.

Does she still owe him $350 Large from some civil suit she brought and lost?

Well the main way Republicans play identify politics is to pin "socialist" on whatever the Dems propose, implying it's both un-American and anti-business when it's often the very formula of federal business incentives, big government infrastructure, public education and social safety nets that have long served this great nation of ours -- the Capitalists as well as the people who make up their employees, customers, and fellow citizens.

Everybody hates some regulation, but most support most regulations. We seem to appreciate clean air and water, safe food, and protected parkland. Most of us don't care what other people do in their personal lives.

Identity politics lets you label all of this an unhinged liberal agenda, and encourages you to vote at the behest of a shockingly small number of people who will benefit from making the world a s#!ttier place.

I have certainly heard the socialist labels, but more so years ago. Not as much lately. Clean air, safe water, protected park land...sure...most want that, but those issues are not communicated directly...nor opposed directly. Maybe indirectly by policy, but no one wins an election running  on these issues. I don't think most independents want more government. I think most want more efficient government. If we look at green energy....most would want to protect the environment, until they get the utility bill. If that goes up when the government forces the energy companies to provide a certain amount of renewable energy...folks no longer want it. Then it's 'drill baby drill'. If we look at education, i bet the black community would actually prefer school of choice. I do not think most independents currently approve of the education system.  How else did Youngkin win in Virginia. I bet they are also for public safety...and maybe even getting control of immigration, although that is a failure for both parties. I still can’t believe Trump won on building  a wall, but he did and we stuck with the mess. Dems want to say it's all racist, but People are sick of being called racist. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. How do Dems communicate their policies better to convince independents? I wrote off the Republicans in this discussion. If Dems win the independents it doesn't matter.

Obamacare, Welfare, Crop Subsidies, Social Security. Need I go on?

Obama care? Really? Maybe. I have not heard that at all. Crop subsidies I buy, but most don't even know it's a thing. Social security. Yup. Republicans gave up on that several years ago. Welfare...I bet they think it is mostly wasted money. The concept yes, but not run administrated very well.

Obamacare is a great example. GOP states decided to ban together and sue the government over providing those states with free money to expand medicare/ACA expansion. Those politicians were rewarded with reelection while the citizens of most of those states - including Nebraska - have voted to expand those services.

Higher minimum wage is a similar example. Nebraska politicians routinely vote against it, get reelected anyway, and the citizens have passed a ballot measure to raise the minimum wage anyway. The same is true in many other states.

Popular programs like social security is another example. Raising taxes on the wealthy or getting rid of the income cap is extremely popular on the Right. Republican politicians routinely vote against any tax raising measure - even those that target the wealthy - and their politicians get elected anyway.

Identity politics is why a party can field terrible candidates - like New York Democrats - or huge swaths of the GOP and keep winning.  It's why Republicans vote against popular legislation and go back to their districts to brag about passing things they voted against.  Truthfully, entire books have been written about why popular policies supported by Democrats fail to yield more electoral gains.

I don't buy obamacare. When most people see a ballot measure that raises taxes they vote no. The way Colorado gets these passed is by lying and saying the extra revenue will go to education, and better roads. Then people pass it. I agree on social security and min wage (to a point) but Republicans stopped fighting on SS.

That must be so hard for them.

So you think the Dems will win over voters by accusing them of being racist or whatever else? That sounds like a great winning strategy. We have gotten to the point were people of color are not allowed have conservative views.

Obama care didn't raise your income taxes.

The people being called racist are people who vote for a party of racists. They associate with racists. They adamantly refuse to call the racists in their party to account.

Seems like, if they're truly tired of being called racists, they could change any of the above and solve their problem.

You know who doesn't get called a racist? Me, and right-minded folks like me who don't associate with or vote for racists. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is sort of why he's being charged. Until the actual indictment it's hard to say.

But it seems Trump sent hush money to his lawyer, Michael Cohen, who then paid off Stormy Daniel's. This was to disguise that the money came from Trump himself, which seems like it was campaign money. Using campaign money to pay hush money is against campaign finance law; but using campaign money to pay a lawyer is legal.

Trump attempt to use a legal loophole by making Michael Cohen his middleman.

Add abortion rights, single payer healthcare, gun reform including background checks, student loan forgiveness, universal paternal/maternal paid leave, and banning government officials from owning stocks or immediately becoming lobbyists after their work in government as a few more left policy ideas that have widespread support.
