Trump Legal Troubles

Recommended Posts

60% do not favor single payer, only 43% say  student loan forgiveness is a good idea (which is crazy low considering how many people have loans that could be forgiven and that the plan gives them thousands and thousands of free money), banning government officials from owning stock isn’t a left idea, it’s a universal idea proposed by all sides, ending politician to lobby train isn’t a left idea it’s a universal idea proposed by all sides.

Im quite certain that if I offered free candy every single day to my kids they would approve.  If I offered them free Dave and Busters game cards every day they would approve, if I offered to take them to McDonalds, Chipotle, or jersey Mikes  everyday (till they got sick of it) they would approve.   But like a good parent, I don’t do those things.

A policy of just giving away free things with a lack of pay for’s isn’t a sound strategy.   And saying some people approve of them is well, kinda meaningless.  Hell, maybe I’ll change my tune too if Biden proposes $100k in mortgage relief and $20k towards a new car relief.   Maybe a $1k a year allowance for new shoes relief?  :D
It’s not the Federal Governments job to just hand out universal free goodies because people like getting free stuff and call it good policy.  Sometimes being the adult and saying no is a good thing.

You're right.  But, when it's been proven throughout many other developed countries that single payer healthcare is actually much cheaper with similar (and sometimes better) results, well....the adult in the room should strongly consider it instead of ranting on and on about how socialism is going to destroy 'merica.

Maybe....if they would actually ban politicians from holding stocks and then becoming lobbyists, an honest discussion on the subject would take place.

Just your premiums.

If the premiums would be lowered without the ACA, Republicans would've repealed and replaced it. They haven't because there is no viable alternative.

The reality is that the ACA is imperfect but expanded Healthcare to millions at a reasonable cost. Premiums went up for some, but millions pay no premium at all.

In their defense, they've only had ~15 years to come up with a viable alternative after President Obama initially took office, and ~13 years since the legislation was passed.

R’s wanted to and would have if not for finish the dang fence McCain.

EVERYONES premiums went WAY up, not down like Obama promised.  It just so happens the government pays for many of the premiums.  Doesn’t mean they didn’t go up.

It is cheaper because there isn’t as much Healthcare tech available and services are limited to medically necessary with no doctor overrides like what we have here.

One thing to consider, some of these countries budget the medical costs because we are their de facto security force.  The negligible defense spending is overcome by our countries need to be the world police force.  The US defense spending as a %of GDP is close to historic lows and it’s still triple the % of most of these countries cites with single payer health care.   And I don’t think that even includes State Department aid to foreign countries (could be wrong, please correct if I am).  If we as a country want to go single payer, fine, but we should also immediately reduce our defense spending %of gdp to equal size of Canada or split the difference between Canada and Germany.   That would free roughly $400billion a year to spend on healthcare in addition to what we already spend on Medicare and the Medicaid subsidies.    If everyone (or the majority) is good with that, then let’s go.   But we can’t just “trim the fat off the military” it’s gotta be apples to apples military size so we can have apples to apples healthcare costs.

Does anyone want to venture a guess on what the other “world powers” or developed countries who suck if our defense tits would say at that point?

I have certainly heard the socialist labels, but more so years ago. Not as much lately.

Man, you really have been out of the country.

I do agree that Democrats have been really bad at messaging on issues. One of the reasons is that things like healthcare and immigration are complex and nuanced, and we've been tuned to like our messaging simple and angry.

I've been saying for years that we need to cut defense spending to pay for other things domestic.  That would be fantastic.  Can you Democrats and Republicans please talk to your parties about that?

There is cutting and then there is cutting defense to same proportion of gdp as other countries.    Are you fine with the later option?
