Better to have starving children than NO children. Increase defense spending!

This has been a big bone of contention with me for some time. I'm supportive of military and defense spending, and would prefer we always maintain our status as the world's strongest military, but I think we outspend the next 10 countries combined. It's ridiculous, and clearly, it can lead to situations like this. A seemingly necessary project gets greedy and ultimately fails what it set out to do.

How in the hell is supporting this considered conservative?  1.5 trillion dollars for ONE f#&%ING TYPE OF AIRPLANE!!!  And, Republicans want us to stand up and support every increase in Defense budget because we're patriotic and love and respect our military and how dare anyone who questions it even think about being so unAmerican........

I would absolutely LOVE for someone who supports the Republican party to explain this to me.

This thing was an absolute cluster f#&% from the beginning, and an expert course in horrible program management and scope creep. Over 14 years from the time the competition winner was declared to the plane being operational (with limitations) for the Marine Corp only in 2015, the Airforce in 2016, and Navy in 2019. It wasn't even used in combat until 2018.

Just as a reference. We can build a brand new car from concept to the showroom in 2 to 3 years. These things are using radar, cameras, all kinds of sensors for autonomy/collusion avoidance, and other safety equipment. Not to mention the creature comforts you want like like big screens, heated and ventilated seats, wifi, coolers, HUDs, auto diming head lamps, auto wipers, etc.

I guess I listened to Rush a fair amount in the 80s and 90s, back when I was in my car a lot. I had other choices, but I listened to Rush enough to remember him well. I knew I disagreed with him but he must have been entertaining. He opened every show during the Clinton administration with the number of "Days Held Hostage" -- his equation of living under Clinton to being an Iranian hostage. The callers were mostly sycophants, but every now and then a liberal would get through, and Rush would engage them with relative civility. In his Sacramento days, he would happily take on fools on both sides of the aisle.

I'm sure others have studied and written about it, but there was a shift in the 1990s in the marriage between AM Talk Radio and the Clinton administration. The accelerator seemed to be the Waco standoff, the BTF, and Janet Reno. It wasn't so much about policy differences and Big Government anymore, it was about Black Helicopters and homosexual recruiters, One World Government, Hillary Clinton and Vince Foster. I remember driving around Nebraska listening to G. Gordon Liddy's am talk show, where Liddy and his callers would sign off with dark warnings and reminders to "keep your powder dry." That's when I saw this getting really creepy. Guns and Bibles and the manifest destiny of the white guys in power.

So no, rightwing commentators can't force people in a direction they weren't already leaning, but they can and do craft self-serving narratives out of thin air and disburse them to millions. There is zero evidence the 2020 election was rigged, that Antifa was behind the Capitol insurrection, or that AOC and Green Energy are the culprits in the Texas grid disaster, but when right wing think tank consultants huddle up to craft counter-messaging overnight --- and that is what they do -- they are working towards a willfully ignorant America to serve their political purposes.

This is a bad time to be that stupid.

The thing you have to understand about Rush Limbaugh is that he created an industry out of the flotsam that was talk radio. Rush should be understood as what Sam Walton and Jeff Bezos did with retail, even if you don't share their non-business opinions or like them as individuals.

And Rush would be the first to tell you that global warming caused the Texas freeze.

People keep acting like this is something we should all be glad happened...

Porn does more good for America than Political Talk Radio.

The number of famous people celebrating his death from cancer speaks very ill of society.

Rush spoke ill of society and its people. Constantly. Anybody who makes a career out of saying racist, bigoted and homophobic remarks doesn't deserve any character glorification.

Jesus would be soooo proud of this tolerant, caring lady.  The future, and present state, of the Christian Republican Party.

If, at the end of the day, I somehow make through the Heavenly Checklist and I run into a hateful, deluded soul like this....send me the other direction

I don’t understand why MTG feels the need to put that sign there.  Seems like a bit of trolling.  But it is correct regardless.

Ironic that the sign says "Follow the "Science" when it does just the opposite.

Aside from that, I hazard to guess that nobody would walk the road of prejudice, discrimination, and violence just because they chose to identify with a particular gender.  I'm sure that's a tough life to live.  I'm also sure Marjorie has no ability to put herself in another person's shoes.

TBH I've never understood the amount of brain cells and consternation that some conservatives put into the gender debate, particularly those who base their decision on religious convictions. It's incredibly bizarre to accept and follow God's word, be kind to your fellow man, but simultaneously wish to withhold equitable opportunities from people with different gender or sexual identities. None of that stuff really matters. We're all human at the end of the day.

This post of mine in the 'What is the future of the Republican party' feels relevant. A lot of Republicans try to appear like they want to give equitable opportunities to all people, but...

...that's not the message being sent consistently in regards to GOP social policy. I've sat in legislative hearings and watched as Republican leaders and voters told LGBTQ+ workers that employers should be able to fire them for their sexual orientation. I've watched Republican leaders and voters fight against the ability for same sex couples to adopt a child. As a white hetero male, I don't have to worry about any of those things. But LGBTQ+ people still do.
