Oh....I so wanted someone to bring up a Republican that hides sexual assault allegations.

That was definitely the most entertaining part of today's hearing :D

Frankly, I am too.  It's been "The Best Of...." from 45.  Take your pick, but it's the Ukraine that will get him impeached.  I'd have thought it would have been something else.

Why has this hearing gone on now for hours?  They keep saying the same thing over and over and over and over and over again.  None of the Representatives are going to change their mind.  Stop with the grandstanding, vote and get it to the floor of the house.

I'm sick of this whole thing.

Because the GOPers behind the dais keep adding amendments to the original HR.

They're using parliamentary rules to delay the inevitable, to say to the POTUS, "Hey I fought for you."

If you want to see the actual text of the bill that they've been debating for two days now, here ya go:

Yet ANOTHER roll call on an Amendment that was voted down.....again.....

23 Nos, 17 Ayes.

And the Republicans yet again submit ANOTHER amendment.  Trying to whack out the entire articles of Impeachment.

That's like 3 or 4 times they've done that today.

My understanding is McConnell doesn't want Republicans to call people like Schiff, Pelosi, Hunter Biden and other non relevant witnesses that Trump wants them to bring in

I'd pick just one to establish that they won't talk.  Otherwise the risk averse strategy is justifiable.

Why am I not surprised.

They can't even fake the effort to make it look like they're acting in good faith. This is blatant disregard for the Constitution, and people like Joe up there DGAF.

If this were an actual jury trial in an actual court, any juror who showed such bias toward a defendant or explicitly stated that they refused to consider the evidence would be removed from the jury.

Wouldn't it be amazing in the impeachment hearing if the Chief Justice disqualified any Senator who said this kind of nonsense? That would change everything. I don't think that could happen though.

Well, you're right. It won't happen. The problem is the Senate is by far the more serious and self-important chamber. They know how to just keep their head down, look sober and go about their business, even if it's the corrupt, tribal type of business McConnell is describing above.

The House GOP, on the other hand, realizes they're the JV, and thus you get Collins/Gaetz/Jordan et al. screaming and berating their colleagues to try to show off for Daddy.

You won't see any of that in a Senate trial, even if it's over before it began. Roberts would never toss anyone.

Go tell Mitch his strategy needs tweaking because he ain't calling any of those people because he isn't stupid. He knows it will do absolutely nothing to help the case against Trump. I think the words he used were self destructive
