aThat would be interesting for a party that is pushing for convicted felons to be able to vote...then to turn around and limit the participation in the political process by someone they find guilty of a crime.

Someone found to be committing crimes during their time in office should forfeit their right to run for office again.

The 2 aren’t very similar. Being able to vote as a felon is a lot different than being able to hold a political office after committing crimes while holding a political office before.

That seems like justification of one side that fits your beliefs.

Is there a stimulation in the proposal to allow felons to vote.....as long as their crime wasn't voter fraud?

It’s not though. Holding office is not even comparable to having the right to vote when it comes to the effect the person can have on others’ lives. IMO that is a very important factor.

It’s a good idea to not allow anyone to vote who’s been found guilty of voter fraud, even if that isn’t a felony. It should be there if it isn’t.

Committing any kind of fireable crime when you are holding a public office should be grounds for not getting those types of jobs again. Especially if the crime could potentially affect a bunch of the people they’re representing. You’re in a position of trust. It’s far worse to commit crimes when you are in that position and letting them hold office again is a way bigger deal than letting someone vote.
