The First Trump Impeachment Thread

Recommended Posts

Watching a bit of this during lunch. The GOP attorney asking questions, Stephen Castor, is god-awful. From his rambling, nonsensical questions all the way to his body language and voice, he does not seem very competent. Just saw a graphic that he was the lead investigator in the Benghazi investigations. No wonder the GOP whiffed on that.

But compared to the other attorneys that have come and gone through Trump's circles and the DOJ, he is probably still the best they've got.

When in doubt, change the focus to Hunter Biden. What a circle-jerk.

Yes, but:

The only real concern with this amateurish attempt at deflection of very credible, damning sources is that the audience Castor is playing to is prone to accepting the lies of these amateurs.

I don't envy the GOP counsel's position. He has no reasonable legal defense.

"A Chewbacca defense is a legal strategy in which a criminal defense lawyer tries to confuse the jury rather than refute the case of the prosecutor. It is an intentional distraction or obfuscation."

In this scene from the television series South Park, Johnnie Cochran stands in a courtroom next to a large screen on a tripod. He points to a picture on the screen of Chewbacca, who is wide-eyed and standing stiffly.

He's just doing the Gish Gallop trying to get all the GOP talking points on records. It's incoherent, and his only hope is that Kent and Taylor will slip up and say something negative about the Bidens that he can pounce on.

He setup up the questioning on the owner of Burisma nicely and raise a relevant point about their possible corruption, then fell flat on his face. If you want to paint this as anti-corruption then focus on that you morons. It's a valid area of concern, that they only dance around.

Schiff has had some nice smack down when. The GOP are trying to complain about procedures.

*Edit*

Well s#!t! Schiff is actually asking the follow up questions on Burisma corruption. And that's why they only tip toes around it. Schiff smacked them down again...

Very good questioning by Himes.

Trump asking Ukraine's president to "gin-up" public allegations of corruption for his personal political agenda is not the same as VP Biden asking Ukraine's president to fire a corrupt prosecutor in line with our foreign policy agenda.

The defense of Trump is pretty ridiculous. I saw a Trump supporter saying 'Trump did nothing wrong, read the transcript, he asks for no election interference from Ukraine and Volker wanted a statement before aid was released'. Is that a joke? Thats like the whole issue lol
