If he's impeachment it doesn't mean he can't run for office next year. Even if the Senate convicts, they would have to have a separate measure to bar him from public office. So he could conceivably be convicted, removed, and run for reelection in 2020. Link to comment

I think Trump's ego would get in the way, but if he does get convicted in the Senate, I'd really hope he'd step aside... probably a long shot... Link to comment

It's crazy that you can take a person's rights away for a federal felony, but they could still hold public office. That seems like a major oversight. 1 Link to comment
