DOJ Initial Russia Hearings

Recommended Posts

It keeps getting deeper and deeper for Trump.  Now they are investigating illegal use of money (some may be foreign- no surprise  but a big no-no) during his inauguration.  That rabbit trial was provide courtesy of one Michael Cohen.

The criminal probe by the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office, which is in its early stages, also is examining whether some of the committee’s top donors gave money in exchange for access to the incoming Trump administration, policy concessions or to influence official administration positions, some of the people said.

Giving money in exchange for political favors could run afoul of federal corruption laws. Diverting funds from the organization, which was registered as a nonprofit, could also violate federal law.

The investigation represents another potential legal threat to people who are or were in Mr. Trump’s orbit. Their business dealings and activities during and since the campaign have led to a number of indictments and guilty pleas. Many of the president’s biggest campaign backers were involved in the inaugural fund.

The investigation partly arises out of materials seized in the federal probe of former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen’s business dealings, according to people familiar with the matter.

Mr. Mueller has also probed whether any foreign money flowed to the inaugural fund, which is prohibited from accepting foreign funds. In August, the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington, on a referral from Mr. Mueller, obtained a guilty plea from a Washington consultant who admitted he used a U.S. citizen to serve as a “straw purchaser” so that a “prominent Ukraine oligarch” could attend the inauguration. The names were never disclosed.

Mystery Mueller mayhem at a Washington court

https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/14/politics/mueller-grand-jury-mysterious-friday/index.html

"Fridays at the DC federal courthouse are typically days of high alert for the press corps trying to discern what special counsel Robert Mueller's next legal action will be.

But this Friday, court officials went to extreme measures to ensure it was as difficult as possible to figure out what Mueller's team was doing as the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit held a secret and mysterious argument about a grand jury subpoena challenge.

An entire floor of the courthouse was closed to the public and press for more than an hour. During that time, attorneys secretly entered the courthouse to argue before three federal appellate judges over a grand jury subpoena."

I don't think you say s#!t like that if you're not in big trouble. There's no way he doesn't know what a warrant is and doesn't know the DNC server was already broken into (hacked).

He's trying to get the public on his side because he knows some of the wrongdoing that's going to come out.

I can already hear republicans thinking it’s cool that they have their own mobster.

Avoiding the paperwork was the point!

Except that hush money secretly paid through a cutout in order to avoid political blowback expected to harm one’s election chances is hardly an “error in paperwork.”

Evan McMullin added,

“There are thousands and thousands of rules, it’s incredibly complicated - campaign finance,” Rand Paul, on NBC, about Trump/Cohen. “We have to decide whether or not penalities are the way we should approach campaign finance,” saying an error in paperwork “ought to be a fine.”

What we see more clearly now than ever is a classic Russian intelligence operation to compromise and control a corrupt politician by financial and other means to benefit Moscow. It’ll take months or years for America to come to terms with it, but that politician is our president.

Just imagine the “political synergies” you could find between a hostile foreign government and a disloyal, money-grubbing politician. How would you value them, Individual-1?

Evan McMullin added,

“This is collusion illusion, there is no smoking gun here. At this late date, after all that we have gone through, after millions have been spent, we have no Russian Collusion. There is nothing impeachable here.” @GeraldoRivera Time for the Witch Hunt to END!

After this week’s Department of Justice filings, it’s never been more clear that you were compromised to the Russian government and that you assisted its attack on the nation, while pursuing related financial gain. You are the corrupt leader of whom our Founders warned.

AFTER TWO YEARS AND MILLIONS OF PAGES OF DOCUMENTS (and a cost of over $30,000,000), NO COLLUSION!

This is significant. The Justice Department is alleging in court that the president directed his onetime lawyer to commit two felonies.

We’ve now had multiple GOP leaders saying some variation of: what Trump did is normal and many in congress do it, it shouldn’t be illegal,  the laws are too confusing so it’s hard to not break them, etc.

Just because they probably all do illegal s#!t to enrich themselves doesn’t mean we should allow it. They want the country to come down hard on the poorest of the poor but let them do whatever they want to do as long as it’s a white collar crime.

$ should not be allowed in politics to the level that it is and when people break campaign finance laws they should be punished severely. White collar crime should actually be considered and its comitters treated worse because it seems to negatively impact way more lives. Especially when politics is involved.

And f#&% Rand Paul. A fine for a violation? You have to be f#&%ing kidding me. If they can afford to break campaign finance laws a fine is nothing to them. If our country is going to let them buy our policy and elections, at least make them pay the GD price when they break the law.

Judge Nap - Trump is unindicted co-conspirator.

https://www.mediaite.com/tv/fox-news-napolitano-says-trump-is-an-unindicted-co-conspirator-ample-evidence-to-indict-potus/

Quote

“Last week in a federal direct court here in New York City, a federal judge at the end of Michael Cohen‘s sentencing said the president orchestrated and paid for this crime,” Napolitano said.

“So you’re saying he’s an unindicted co-conspirator?” Smith asked.

“Yes,” Napolitano answered. “There’s ample evidence – this doesn’t require too much analysis – to indict the president, the question is do they want to do it.

If you can't indict a president it sends the message they can do whatever they want to win the election as long as they win the election.

If you do indict a sitting president it sets the precedents of removing your political opponent through special councel.

They need to tread carefully.
