Presidents need to be indicted for any offenses they committed while not president. That makes cheating to win an offense, not making decisions while president an offense, per se.

If crimes can be proven through that special counsel, then I think most folks would be fine with that precedent being set.

 

Additionally, I would imagine it would inherently discourage future candidates from committing such acts.

I think anyone who engages in criminal behavior should be held accountable for it, regardless of your job. And some jobs, such as the presidency, demand a higher standard of ethics, not a lower one.
