Making Chimichangas
I figured it was time to start a thread about Star Wars, Episode 9 even though it is still 21 months away. What prompted this thread idea was the above video from the YouTube channel: Star Wars Theory. It is a decent channel, but I prefer the Star Wars Explained channel as I think it does a better job at giving Star Wars related content. But for this video, apparently some demented fools are actually petitioning Disney to re-cast Princess Leia. I want to state right off I am 100% opposed to this. Carrie Fisher (R.I.P.) was Princess Leia and to recast her, even with an actress as esteemed as Meryl Streep would be, in my estimation, an unforgivable faux pas by Disney. Thoughts? Also, let's discuss what we'd like to see in Episode 9, and news, rumors, et al. Edited April 1, 2018 by Making Chimichangas 1 Quote Link to comment
Redux
Carrie Fisher is Leia, end of story. What I'd like to see out of Episode 9 is something original that takes all the fan theories and rolls them all into one so that people can enjoy it. Moiraine
I think the best way is to have her written out in the beginning scroll. It sucks, but we all know why. Maybe they can do something special with the scroll. Or maybe the first few scenes will be the characters finding out and mourning her. I don't think a celebrity death has ever hit me as hard as hers, and the timing made it worse. But I'd prefer to have gotten 7 and 8 with her and wonder what would have been than to have never had them made with the original trio. The other sad thing, just with the story itself, is these people saved the universe and now 30whatever years later it's gone to s#!t again and they all died for it. None of them got happy ever afters. (Even worse, Han got murdered by his own son). Although if Leia had lived she would have been alone. No brother, possibly no son, no Han. At least Luke knew he was going to die. Edited April 1, 2018 by Moiraine Quote Link to comment
Making Chimichangas
I am with @Moiraine on this...address Carrie Fisher's death in the opening crawl of Episode IX. Then have a brief scene where the characters mourn Princess Leia's death. And have a explanation of how she died in a way that befits her character. Make it mean something. Perhaps tie Luke's sacrifice and her death together somehow. Make it something that would truly cause the entire galaxy to rally together to defeat the First Order. I have no idea how that would or could happen, but I do know there are some pretty creative writers out there who could get it done. Quote Link to comment
huKSer
Any chance of a CGI character? Quote Link to comment

Making Chimichangas
They've spent two movies building up how strong both Rey and Kylo are in The Force. I want to see a lightsaber/force battle/battle of wills that is the most epic thing ever put to film. Quote Link to comment

Even if it is the most epic thing ever, it will be perceived as either a) somehow ripping off Return of the Jedi or b) too different than all other battles we have seen prior to be considered acceptable continuity. Regrettably I think there is truth in what you said. It really does suck that some Star Wars fans can't just enjoy the movies. It is as if they're thinking is: well it didn't fit my specific criteria so I am going to complain as loudly as I can. I mean I get critiques of a movie, but the petulance of these Star Wars fans is beyond ludicrous. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Quote Keri Russell is going from the Cold War to Star Wars. Russell, who is coming off the series finale of The Americans, is in talks to join the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX, the next Star Wars installment from Lucasfilm, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. J.J. Abrams, who helmed Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is directing the movie, which may wrap up the main Star Wars saga featuring the Skywalker bloodline. Abrams co-wrote the script. Cdog923
Sad to say, but I'm probably going to skip this one, at least until it makes its way to Netflix (or Disney's streaming service). Quote Link to comment
Redux
Yeah even if I hated Ep.8, I'm still at the midnight showing. Quote Link to comment
RedDenver
My 7yo is never going to let me miss a Star Wars movie. Quote Link to comment
Redux
Even if it sucks it's not worth missing the experience, especially if this one comes close to the expectations. Quote Link to comment
