The 2020 Presidential Election - Convention & General Election

This story is 24 hours old and would have been a major scandal in any of the previous 20 elections, but with Trump it's not even a blip on the radar.

Twitch suspends Trump campaign account

Twitch, the video streaming service popular with online gamers, has suspended an account belonging to the Trump campaign, becoming the latest tech platform to take action against President Donald Trump.

In a statement provided to CNN, Twitch, which is owned by Amazon (AMZN), said that "hateful conduct is not allowed."

"In line with our policies, President Trump's channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream, and the offending content has been removed," said Brielle Villablanca, a Twitch spokesperson.

The content that Twitch said violated its policies on hate included a video of Trump's 2016 campaign rally in which he called Mexicans rapists and criminals. Video of that rally was recently rebroadcast on Twitch, the company said.

Another video that Twitch said violated its policies was video of Trump's recent Tulsa rally, in which Trump spoke hypothetically of "a very tough hombre" breaking into the house of a "young woman."

Hate speech is different than that of free speech.  They asked the moderators of those subreddits to police their threads to remove threats, hate, and violent rhetoric so they could stay online and communicating.

They failed to do so.  It was a simple ask that all other subreddits follow.  It shouldn't have been hard for them to do so.

So, this isn't the removal of free speech. It's morons who can't follow a few simple rules in order to keep their subreddit.  But hey, keep pushing that narrative...I'm sure a few MAGA people will believe it and you guys can all get together and pat each other on the back while you shout white power from your 4 person golf cart.

Keep siding with those racists NDJ but be careful...some people think you are who you hang out with.

Hate speech is free speech.  The only definition = speech that you hate to hear.  Every fake definition offered to censor the Trump campaign, happening every day so you know it is a concerted effort, would apply to BLM, Antifa and other Biden aligned groups.  But they won't be sanctioned because the powers like reading that kind of hate speech.

@funhusker We've known for a century that it's not a free market when a cartel controls it.  It's long past time to revoke Silicon Valley's immunity just like Industry and Wall Street had to be reigned in.

Someone posted this under the youtube video:

The “billionaire” who hides his tax returns.

The “genius” who hides his college grades.

The “businessman” who bankrupted 3 casinos and lost over $1B in 10 years.

The “Christian” who doesn’t go to church.

The “philanthropist” who defrauds charity.

The “patriot” who dodged the draft.

The “innocent man” who refuses to testify.

The "president*" who takes no responsibility.

The "tough, strong" man who wears make-up and hair spray.

The 'deal maker" who has yet to close a deal.

Trump Talk Translated:

"Many People have told me" = Voices inside my head

"A lot of people don't know" = I just learned

"Believe me" = I just lied

"In Fact" = I'm about to lie

"He's a great guy" = I will deny ever knowing this person after they begin to tell the truth about me

"MAGA" = Making my pockets fatter off the American tax payers

"Nobody knew" = Everyone knew except me

"Huge" = moderate to below average in size

"Loser" = someone who makes me feel inferior due to their talent or accomplishments

"Policy Briefing" = Watching Fox News

"Liar" = Someone who tells the truth about me

"Fake News" = Real news

The history of capitalism and markets shows that a cartel always ends up controlling a market. It's why "free" market is meaningless. What people usually mean when they say "free" market is "competitive" market, but that requires some authority to regulate the market to prevent cartels and maintain competition.

@Notre Dame Joe thoughts?

WOW!!  Shout it from the mountains.  This is the plain simple truth - coward or complicit - there is not other option - other than dereliction of duty/gross negligence  - We already know he is grossly incompetent but that isn't a crime (except perhaps a non-punishable crime of the voters who elected him).

So which impeachable offense did he break:  Treason,  Bribery, Other High Crimes & Misdemeanors?   Yes, Yes, and Yes.

Impeachable offenses: "Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors" The Constitution limits grounds of impeachment to "Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors".

Broadly.  Big Business has learned to embrace burdensome regulations* that make it impossible for new competition to enter the market.  I credit that to baseball George guy.  We don't need a licensing bureau to say who can and who cannot operate a social media site.  Silicon Valley could be collared with the existing anti-trust machinery.  The only 'new' law we need is to make them liable in civil court for violating people's civil rights. It may not even require a new statute, just new precedent where the courts stop treating tech with white gloves.  If Silicon Valley really thinks they are just stopping 'hate speech' and not trying to rig the election then they should be happy to argue that to a jury of their peers.

An example is pharmaceuticals which is one of the most regulated industries in the land.  And unsurprisingly they keep merging into fewer companies.

Wow. Before your post I thought all regulations were good and it was impossible for there to be such a thing as bad regulations. Thank you for changing my mind wow.

Not at all NDJ, and you should know better.  You seem to talk like you know what's what with your posts...but you swung and missed on this one.

Hate speech is inciting violence toward a subset of Americans..  It's considered a crime.

It ENCOURAGES VIOLENCE.  This is the key indicator.  I don't care if you don't like a subset of human beings and express hatred of who they are, what they represent, or how they appear...but don't incite violence toward them.

This is what the subreddits were held accountable on...asked not to do...and did it anyway.

Nice try again though downplaying what was going on and making excuses for racists who want to incite a race war.

FYI, definition here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hate_speech#United_States

NDJ, today you learned that hate speech = calling for violence against a group or person = not covered by the 1st Amendment.

Yeah that's wrong.  The people who attempt to define "hate speech" do NOT limit it to violence.  They include calls for violence because it sounds like a freebie, but they ignore it as long as it's directed against the right targets.

And since that video will eventually be purged, it's one of many of Antifa screaming at police.  Which has only increased obviously since last month. Antifa is a community beloved by the same tech companies that ban conservatives and Trump supporters.

And if you were honest with yourself you would see that the Left is many times more hateful and violent than the Right.  I posted a parody a few weeks back to highlight the fact that Right wing extremists aren't destroying property and threatening liberals, unlike the Radicals who do it on an hourly basis.
