Hate to be the “bold prediction “ guy, but....Only Biden and Bloomberg can defeat Trump.

It’s sad and unfortunate, but I truly believe this.

Disagree?

Yeah good luck trying to get progressives which make up half of the democratic party to vote for another oligarch authoritarian dictator. Look up his record in NYC. Hes Trump only shorter.

I think people are going to be really shocked to see Bernie or Warren or Yang or whomever gets the nomination beat Trump.

There are a few vocal bad actors who promote Trump. But there are a LOT of people who don't like him at all, and will vote for a tree stump if it wins the nomination.

He is definitely not a shorter version of Trump.

Barring any major scandalous revelations, I would indeed be among the shocked, but in a good happy way.

It's one of those frustrating things in American politics.  The only way a candidate is going to get the nomination is if they pander to the base which is not moderate.  But, somehow, to win the General, they have to then keep their base and appeal to moderates.  I don't see Bernie or Warren being able to do that.  The people in the Democratic Primary race who can appeal to moderates would be Biden, Bloomberg, Pete and Klobucher.

But.....look at one of the first responses when I said that I liked Pete.  The response was, "He has no chance of getting the nomination".

Spot on....

Maybe this should be its own thread, but how does a group of people go about starting a political party?  I mean, call it the "Disgruntled" party and start a group on FB.  You'd have a million members by the end of the week, and that's not counting the disgruntled voters that aren't on social media...

I don't see how you can bar that though. House will get his financials and there is plenty of revelations in there most of America doesn't really know about. If E. Jean Carroll wins her suit for Trumps DNA it will be very hard to deny the fact he is a rapist. If the House looks into Trump/Kushner interactions with Saudi Arabia that should lead to plenty of revelations given the recent one we got about Trumps secret meeting with Crown Prince prior to 2016 election. These are just things we know about already in the works. I would put money on there being more.

Without ranked choice voting, it means nothing.  And...the Ds and Rs will never allow that.

The hell he isnt. Stop and frisk. Taxing the poor. Gentrification. Banning big gulps. Hes a dictator. Straight up. And its a sad day in America where we are talking about how a guy like this, a republican, a billionaire, an authoritarian would be the best option as the “opposing” parties leader to take on Trump. There will never be an opposition party again. This country would be so far right if someone brings up possibly increasing the minimum wage they will be called socialist.

Sounds like you needed to vent. Glad I could help.

if you want to believe Bloomberg = Trump, go ahead, but I doubt many will agree.

I agree that Bloomberg certainly isn’t ideal, but at least he’s admitted mistakes he’s made.

job one is defeating Trump.  I don’t see a “progressive “ doing that now. Maybe I’ll be wrong.  If Bernie gets the nod, then I will support him and pray that I was wrong about this.

I feel like I will need to vent this entire process lol. I get that people dont think Bernie can win. Its because for 5 years the MSM has been telling people he cant win. And people are sheep so they believe them even though they think well I like him, but this person on TV knows more than me so I guess Im one of the only ones who like him.

He, along with Yang and Gabbard poll best with independents. Fact. He beats Trump in 95% of head to head polls for 5 years straight. Fact. The rust belt takes trade more seriously than most other areas and Bernies trade record is excellent. Fact. They did polling in the rust belt that says a left wing populist beats a right wing populist. Fact. Bernie out performs his polls. Fact. Bernie brings out people who normally dont vote, just look at Iowa. 30% of new caucus goers were for Bernie. Under 45 had higher turnout than 45 and above. Fact. Theres are reason Biden tanked in Iowa. The majority of Americans like his policies. Fact. Hes been the most popular senator in the country for 11 years in a row, the poll just came out a few weeks ago. Fact. I could keep going on why he would win but my last point is that Trump knows hed lose to Sanders. There is audio of him saying he doesnt want to run against Sanders!

I get people hear the loudest Trump supporters yell Trump landslide 2020 bit that doesn't mean it's even close to true. Trump has the worst net approval since Truman. Truman got destroyed in his reelection bid. Trump doesn't have that strong of an economy, the deficit is out of control, he has no vision on healthcare. 52% supported removal in the latest Fox impeachment poll. And people think Trump will be hard to beat? I think Trump will have a hard time winning as much as you hear the opposite. I think it's just propaganda meant to make you think it's more in question than it is. People really don't like 45.

Trump wakes up this morning with his highest approval rating ever.

I get it. That was quite the dog and pony show he put on last night. At least from what I've heard. Couldn't bear to watch it myself. Democrats seem in disarray, with more confusion and acrimony than passion.

The good news: it's still nine months till the election. Nobody feels safe with a three point lead in the first quarter.

And despite things all seeming to tip Trump's way, the full spectrum of Democratic candidates would have an edge in the general election right now. Polls and prognosticators don't tell the whole story --- they sure didn't four years ago -- but this is the landscape at the moment.

The trend line on this graph over the last month is concerning to me.  For some reason, while the impeachment process has played out on TV, his approval rating has gone UP.

LINK  (Sorry, for the life of me I can't figure out how to post this graph.)

The Gallup poll just came out with a 49% favorable rating.  I know it's just one poll and But, they had been in the 44-45% range prior to this.

I'm concerned that once the Senate votes today, there will be alot of people say, "Well...see....Dems didn't find anything so there isn't a reason to not like Trump".

Truman got destroyed within his own party, and withdrew early in the primaries. There are currently three semi-legitimate Republicans challenging Trump for the Republican nomination, but I bet you've heard zero from them since they announced, and in another galling example of voting suppression, Republicans in several states have actually kept them off the state ballot.

If you ever got Donald Trump on a debate stage with Bill Weld, I think a lot of Republicans would go "oh s#!t. Yeah. That's really where we should be."

But Trump's base is solid, and I think the Muller investigation and impeachment hearings might bring Republicans to the polls in an ideological call-to-action, whether they like the guy or not. And many of them really, really, love the guy.

I've been trying to figure out how and why this works, and a recent cartoon summed it up pretty well. It's a war against Libtards.
