Maybe I'm going to get my wish.

The Republican party has been being destroyed by everything Trump does.

Now, if the Democrats get destroyed.....

Utopia.

Well.....I should say Utopia whenever Trump is out of office and both parties are destroyed.

We'll call the new party  Big Red's Buster Utopia Party   otherwise known as the Moderate party for short.

in  2016 a lifelong democrat ran as a republican and won.  in 2020 a lifelong socialists is looking like he is going to get the nomination from the democrats.   is it just me or do the members of the parties not seem to know who they are?

Some truth to that for sure.

I also think Democrats have forgotten they're the party of FDR and Kennedy/LBJ, where you champion big systemic changes and then deliver.

Virtually every Republican called FDR a socialist, too.

Actually, they still call every Democrat a socialist, don't they.

One has to stop and think where we would be without FDR policies and Kennedy/LBJ policies.  Yes they were 'radical' for their time but it has all normalized.. Even big business has normalized with it and changed with it.  I know I complain about the price tag for Bernie's plans but if they were implemented in time it would all normalize and the economics would reset again.  Our free marketplace system has a way of adapting to change and moving on.

I think we completely forgot about how checks and balances were suppose to work, I’ll end up voting for Bernie, but there are absolutely things he should be checked on - hence the motive for a competent court, congress and senate. Those branches weren’t in place to do one mans bidding and toe party lines to a fault.

You got that right.  We have the imperial presidency going on now.  The Congress when fully GOP was all 'yes men' and not a viable check to the president.  Thus we only really had the court as a check.  It has helped some to have a Dem House but that only takes us so far as we recently found out.  The Congress has given away too much of its power and have taken the easy way out and have failed us.

The chart shows why I like Amy   - only 2 negative words (GOP calling her a liberal being one) .   Honest assigned to a politician brings up another word - amazing.

I suspect she doesn't have a chance (unless as a compromise brokered convention nominee) but I hope she becomes the VP pick.

Because we have a partly-free market. Socialism is the antithesis of a free market where the existing powers stifle new players.

As mentioned, America has long thrived on Big Government working side by side and often to the benefit of free market capitalists. Some have called it socialism, but it's not.
