She got a story in the papers last year, it just happens to be a different story.

Can you tell me the degrees of sexual assault or harassment that make things OK?  Like, is there a 1st degree sexual harassment and 2nd degree?

I want to know so I can make sure Biden isn't TOO guilty so I can make sure I forgive myself for supporting him later.  Because a story about inappropriate touching that becomes fingering someone isn't a far stretch...but evidently, it's night and day for you...so I want your standard in print so we can discuss the intricacies of sexual harassment and assault and be on the same page.

Yep, she's saying now that she was afraid to tell the whole story before. Definitely calls into question her credibility. From the Vox article:

Quote

Reade, for her part, said she did not include the assault accusation when she spoke out last year because the harassment was easier to talk about, in part because others had witnessed it.

“I wanted to share the whole thing, but at the same time I was too scared,” she said. “I just wasn’t quite ready.”

Since then, Grim has contacted Reade’s friend and brother, both of whom say she told them about the alleged sexual assault by Biden in 1993.

“Woefully, I did not encourage her to follow up,” her brother told the Intercept. “I wasn’t one of her better advocates. I said let it go, move on, guys are idiots.”

Earlier this year, though, Reade decided she wanted to speak publicly about the assault allegation. She reached out to Time’s Up, an anti-harassment organization launched as the Me Too movement rose to prominence, to see if she could get legal representation. However, Grim reports, the organization said it could not support her because Biden is a candidate for federal office and doing so could jeopardize its nonprofit status.

definitely.  We know women with no power NEVER fear men in power with tons of money....especially when she told the full story to family and friends in 1993 and they corroborated for the intercept that her podcast interview was what she told them then.

Totally makes sense that someone who is raped needs to have perfect recall, perfect testimony, and never change a story due to trauma...because, obviously, trauma of sexual assault and rape doesn't exist and they should be perfect.

Touching someone’s neck and raping them are entirely different. Ones a behavior that needs correction, ones a behavior that needs prison time. You’re problem is you assume everyone thinks this is a R vs D thing. You’ve expressed that over and over.  Look man, all I’ve said is I want the truth, I don’t care what party Biden represents. If he raped her then f#&% him, he should be out of the race ASAP. If he touched her neck 27 years ago and it made her uncomfortable, I’m sorry but that’s not even in the same discussion as rape.

Touching someone in a sexual manner is sexual assault..no matter what.

If you want someone who touched 8 women in a sexual manner to be your guy, it says a lot about you as a person.

And that's only if the allegations she has of rape aren't true.

Interesting enough that Warren took Bloomberg to task on all his sexual harassment and assault cases brought against him...but she's absent when Biden gets brought up on them.

She had the same proof for both Biden and Bloomberg.  In the debate she roasted Bloomberg alive.  Wonder why she's staying mum on Biden now?  (actually, I don't wonder).

The stories of touching are the types of things we've seen in photos and videos from Biden for years. Nothing overt, nothing explicit, just creepy uncomfortable old man behavior. That to shoving fingers into a vagina is a very far stretch.

It's been like a day. Maybe two. It's not 'interesting' or an indictment on people to not respond to things the absolute second they happen. She might not have even heard about it until this afternoon.

No.  Just No. Touching someone in any way they don't want to be touched is WRONG.  Don't defend it.

I agree. I'd like to see more investigative journalism and fact finding.

That's a different statement.

This board once again proves to be, for the most part, utterly reasonable with difficult topics.

Reflecting on this and the allegations against Kavanaugh, the system is horribly ill-equipped to do anything about these decades-old accusations.

For the sake of everyone involved you hope this one isn't credible. There's certainly a lot of reason to remain skeptical for now.

The Intercept broke both the allegations against Kavanaugh and the allegations against Biden, but I notice a lot of people that thought one way for Kavanaugh now think the opposite for Biden. And that's people on both sides of the aisle.

I'll ask the same question I posed about Trump's.

She's been trying to get the story out for YEARS.  No one would report on it.  That's part of the story if you would read or listen.

Fox News refused to report on a Biden scandal?   How about Breitbart?  :dis

I know this statement would surprise people on this forum 4 years ago, but I now think the USA is at a place where it needs more progressive legislation.

Old world conservatism is not the policy position that will work any longer for America (probably never did-  since FDR we've had a mix of private/govt progressive  policies. Even Reagan was more of a moderate than a hard core conservative- despite his many jokes about big govt)  The old conservative mantra "let the private sector take care of it" will not work.  The idea of very small govt is a thing of the past.  The country has gotten much more diverse and we've matured (or are maturing through the eyes of its young people) to realize that there are real needs that need to be address and we cannot sweep them under the rug any longer.   Maybe as a conservative I can hope for more efficient govt which should be the goal of conservatives and liberals as efficiencies enables more programs to be funded.

The US has been a mixture of privately owned capitalism and socialism since it’s inception. That’s what Republicans refuse to acknowledge. So, ridding the US of socialism isn’t the correct conversation. The conversation needs to be about what parts should be socialized and how to make them as efficient as possible. At the same time, how do we create the best business environment for capitalism to thrive so the most people possible have good jobs. Another part that Republicans don’t get us that takes a certain amount of regulation.
