The price of houses in Texas compared to Cali is simply amazing.

Did you get slammed with HOA fees in Cali or are those about the same all over?

The fees we paid were reasonable, nothing compared to the mortgage. And they helped keep the community clean and the pool area nice. There's always a trade-off with HOAs.

Personally, I prefer not to live in an HOA community, but I think when we were looking to buy pretty much everything in our price range was in an Association.

I bet he loses Texas.  Texas has been overrun with Californians who all can't stand high taxes and ridiculous housing prices...

Of course, they are moving to Texas and they are going to do their best to turn it into another California...so I suppose in 20 years they will move to a new state.

I wonder where Nebraska ranks on the Transient trajectory.  Seems like you've had cheap land and low taxes for a very long time.

It's housing prices, not taxes, that are driving people out. The major population centers of LA & The Bay are valleys nestled within mountains. Space is at a premium and modest homes are out of the buying range of a lot of people. This is why we moved back to Nebraska. Even though we owned a home (condo) it was FAR more expensive than our house in Nebraska, and far smaller.

They aren't moving to Texas to make it another California in the sense that you're implying vis a vis taxes, they're moving because Texas has something California doesn't - space, and with that, cheaper housing.

Of course, there's also Conservative flight, where Conservatives move to live in more Conservative states. That's a significant portion of folks leaving the state.

Californians voted for those high prices whether you're buying a house or a soda can.  No one gets into the state house for being pro-business and anti-regulation. Always they restrict building while encouraging immigration, legal or otherwise.

I remember when I emigrated to California in the 90s. I was SO anti-regulation! They checked my ant-regulation card at the border and I failed! I prayed to Ronald Reagan's M&M jar that they would let me pass, but NO!

So I had to improvise

Initially I tried to sneak across on a PRO-regulation card near Reno, but they caught me & I had to regroup. I spent some time on the Nevada side of Tahoe cleaning the gold sludge off the bottom of tourist boats on that leftist lake there, the one with the clean water and no bottom (like there's no bottom to socialist agendas!!!one!!!1!!!1!!)

But then I found Vegas, and the direct flights to Librul Land they offered, and I Blue myself and just walked on board a plane and became a Californiite. And by the time the blue paint wore off they just accepted me as one of their own libbrall selves and I could walk among them like a real being.  It was swell!

Eventually I got wise to the TAXES and the requirement to gay marry and become a socialist and I moved back to Nebraska and was SAVED. Praise Vladimir Christ!

Which polls are influencing the forecast for Texas?

Right now, 73% of the forecast for Texas is based on polls and 27% relies on factors like demographics and past voting patterns. These are the most influential polls, as determined by how recently they were conducted, how many people they surveyed and how FiveThirtyEight grades the pollster.

Great!

Since you guys are both so pro-immigrant, you can agree we definitely need to make it easier to immigrate here legally without paying thousands of dollars, waiting for years or overwhelming the immigration court system, yes?

Maybe it's just me finally getting over 2016, but I think we're looking at a legitimate chance of Blue Texas, Blue Georgia, Blue Florida, etc.

The only polls not showing a neck and neck race in those places are the bad pollsters.

And some recent polls show a widening races in MI/WI/PA as well where Biden is up anywhere from 5-10 points.

You've got to feel good about the state of play when Biden is going to Florida and GA and Harris is heading to TX the week before the election.

Meanwhile Trump is playing defense everywhere including making a play for Omaha's 1 EV.

Related, this link shows Biden's lead in texas - which is pretty amazing.  We have to go back decades to find the last time a Dem took Texas.   This is starting to look, if the polls hold true, like a Reagan type blow out win for Biden.

One one compares the 2 60 Minutes interviews from last night, it is easy to see the difference in the candidates. One is a reasoned, thoughtful politician and the other is a

he New Hampshire Union Leader, the conservative-leaning Manchester-based newspaper, endorsed Joe Biden for president on Sunday.

Why it matters: It's the first time the paper has endorsed a Democrat for president in over 100 years, after it broke from more than a century of backing Republicans to endorse libertarian Gary Johnson over President Trump in 2016.

  • Biden has aggressively targeted New Hampshire, which Hillary Clinton won narrowly in 2016.
  • The endorsement came hours before Trump was set to visit the state on Sunday.

What they're saying: "Building this country up sits squarely within the skill set of Joseph Biden. We have found Mr. Biden to be a caring, compassionate and professional public servant," the editorial reads.

  • "He has repeatedly expressed his desire to be a president for all of America, and we take him at his word. Joe Biden may not be the president we want, but in 2020 he is the president we desperately need. He will be a president to bring people together and right the ship of state."
  • The authors note that their "policy disagreements with Joe Biden are significant," and that they expect to "spend a significant portion of the next four years disagreeing with the Biden administration."

"We were hopeful with Trump’s win that he might change, that the weight and responsibility of the Oval Office might mold a more respectful and presidential man."

  • "We have watched with the rest of the world as the mantle of the presidency has done very little to change Trump while the country and world have changed significantly."

Yes, but: The paper conceded that Trump has achieved "many admirable accomplishments" during his first term, citing his judicial appointments, tax policy, support for gun rights and work toward peace in the Middle East.

  • But it accused Trump of failing to take responsibility for the extent of the coronavirus pandemic, ballooning the national debt and weaponizing "the social-media-driven political landscape we now live in ... ripping apart all comers to the delight of his fanbase but at the expense of the nation."

The bottom line: "President Trump is not always 100 percent wrong, but he is 100 percent wrong for America," the editorial reads.

It's kind of easy already.  You walk across the Rio Grande and get 'free' healthcare paid by the US taxpayer.  At least if Biden wins.

Drunk Trump supporter, steals a bulldozer and digs out front lawn Biden signs.    They are going wacky

How crazy will they all be when they wake up on Nov 4th and find that their cult leader has been beaten in an electoral college and popular vote landslide :dunno

Residents in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Haines City, Fla., knew something was off on Saturday when they saw a young White man driving a bulldozer on the street. As he made his way down the block, the man began running over every lawn sign in sight supporting Joe Biden.

"This man came onto my property, took the two Joe Biden signs I had in my yard and then came back with a bulldozer to run down my fence," Adam Burgess, a local homeowner, told Bay News 9.

In what fantasyland is this true?

Weren't you recently criticizing Biden for having built the immigration cages? So Biden is bad for building the cages, but he'll also let immigrants waltz across the border and even give them free healthcare!! Amazing logic.
