Nope, I guess I'm a moron.

Ok I'll explain it to you then.

Hypothetically if all the sexual assault stuff about Biden and Trump is true

The bolded part above needs to happen first. Everything that comes after is conditioned on it being true. If it's true, then:

Yes I'm okay with wishing death on rapists, especially when I'm in a bad mood. Doesn't mean I'd be willing to kill them, but I'd be okay with them choking on a sandwich tonight if they pushed someone up against a wall and digitally penetrated them against their will, or did all the things Trump is accused of doing. And I don't feel a bit of guilt about it.

I already think our choices are s#!tty, but if the accusations are true, then they just got worse.

If you don't wish death on rapists, that's your prerogative. But I don't think it makes me a bad person unless I'm trying to make it happen.

You are 100% right...in fact, if you don't think that people that rape/murder and hurt kids shouldn't be hurt/killed you are being dishonest and have painted yourself into some moral corner that doesn't actually exist.

This is the best video I have ever seen of what justice really is, so raw and so real.

I was being facetious. I understood what you meant.

My own personal moral code does not allow me to wish death on anyone. Even the worst of the worst scumbags. I find death as a punishment morally repugnant. You're free to feel about this however you feel.

I find the timing of this sudden change of story suspect for a whole host of reasons but IMO we know so little about the situation that it's best to keep an open mind on this right now.

People who cause death deserve death as do rapists, imo. However, that doesn’t mean I think it’s up to humans to kill them. I don’t believe in magic or curses; wishing death on someone doesn’t make it happen.

I know you knew what I meant, but your first reply was obnoxious.

This is a bit off subject here but I'm more of a believer in karma. If a person kills or rapes someone I think that person has a punishment coming far more effective than anything I could think of

It's not only about karma though, if it's someone who is continuing to cause harm.

Good lord, it will be great theater if Sanders gets the nod.

But, you will also see how many people that pretend to love him, don't.

I can't imagine many people who would pretend to  love Bernie, but don't. Publicly supporting Bernie these days comes with a risk -- you're branded a socialist or extremist or simply someone who is willing to let Trump get reelected. The non-Bernie camp was the safe place to be, even if you didn't have a candidate you particularly loved.

But you are likely to find folks who said "Blue No Matter Who!" then decided it didn't apply to Bernie Sanders.

It could also be great theater because the coronavirus has exposed pretty much everything Bernie Sanders has been saying for 50 years. He sounds more Presidential than Biden in a crisis, and shifted his well-organized and funded campaign to directly help the people affected.

True story: at the 1880 Republican National Convention, John Sherman was one of three candidates in a tightly knit fight for the nomination. Sherman chose James Garfield to give his nominating speech because Garfield was a good speaker and generally respected across the party factions. Garfield was such a good speaker that some delegates thought he'd make a better President than any of them. They cast 35 votes that convention, each one garnering more delegates for Garfield until Garfield won the nomination. He wasn't running and really didn't want the job but became our 20th President. A guy shot him and Garfield would have survived but his doctors were idiots who caused the infections that eventually killed him.

This could be an old-school convention if Joe Biden accumulates too much buyer's remorse.

Great post.  And I think there is some buyer's remorse setting in.  Biden being some what silenced by this whole crisis.  When he does speak it is becoming clear that not all is right 'upstairs'.  As I recall, Obama as a candidate during the Oct 2008 crisis was more forceful and out shined McCain during that period - which I think helped put him in the WH.

Related:  I had forgotten about that historical convention.  Kind of reminds me of the speech Ronald Reagan gave on behalf of Barry Goldwater a few days before the 1964 election.  It had people thinking the wrong guy was on the ticket and thus began the push for Reagan to run for Calif governor and the rest is history.  This is the speech: A Time for Choosing.  I know, Guy and others aren't Reagan fans but this was presented at a different time with a different type of crisis that the country was facing.  I think it is a great speech.

I feel like my opinion is rare, I'm going to vote Bernie in the primary, but I would for sure vote Biden if he was the nominee. I'm thinking my opinion just feels rare based on social media, everyone shouting at the top of their lungs at each other. The OMG you're gonna vote that commie Bernie, or OMG you're gonna vote that capitalist Biden. Theres even been many redditors on the Bernie sub that are saying they'll vote Trump over Biden - so people want progressive, but will vote not progressive just to stick it to candidate that's not as progressive as theirs?

Long Story Short, I'll vote the more progressive of the candidates whether that be Bernie in the primary, or Biden in the general - and I don't understand people and probably never will.

Yep. Convention speeches have a history of this. The 1964 Goldwater convention made Reagan a (political) star. The 2004 Democratic convention made state senator Obama a star. IIRC Bill Clinton became a star at the 1988 Democratic Convention that nominated the forgettable Michael Dukakis, but at the time Clinton was mocked for going on WAAAAY too long and trying to steal the spotlight.

But it's been awhile since sh!t went down at the convention itself.
