The point is that this fraud was going to be allowed if this was not brought up. The fact that Snipes has done this in the past and was continuing to do such things should cause all leading Dem voices to demand her resignation.

BULLs#!t!!!    there was no fraud happening.  the observers from both parties are always in there counting and confirming the votes.   and there is always security there but it's been bumped up because of the protesters there that were incited by the president and the right wing media. 

 

FDLE has said that because workers from the secretary of state’s office, who have been observing the election in Broward County, have not reported any fraud. The secretary of state said again Sunday that there was no evidence of fraud.

Okay let me get this straight - so far, the only substantial thing we're worried about is 20 or so votes that may or may not be invalid not because of explicit fraud but because of procedural mistakes?

...though in all seriousness, it only encompasses ~200 ballots. Considering who these folks were and what happened, I'm inclined to let them ride and someone just needs to thoroughly chastise those responsible for putting out erroneous instructions.

Isn't it so interesting that Republicans are up in arms about "supposed fraud" with the results from a county in Florida that has leaned heavily Democratic in presidential and gubernatorial races for over 20 years. A county where both Democrats and Independents out number Republicans.

That is probably the biggest problem with gerrymandering. The party with the majority in the state legislature can create the maps for the state legislature elections. So if they get the majority by 1 person right before the redrawing they can increase their own majority and also greatly improve their own re-election chances by making more favorable maps. This will always benefit lower population areas because it’s easier to gerrymander a highly populated area. Pretty hard to come up with multiple ways to group together a bunch of small towns and farms to a certan # of people. But a place like Omaha can be cut up a million different ways and it’s easier to pretend you didn’t purposely draw it to give the Republicans extra state senators.

 

Democrats need to find a way to reach people in these areas if for no other reason than to overcome the cheating.

FWIW Ohio passed a new redistricting law recently, though it's a very odd law with some very interesting stipulations. How the map is drawn depends on whether the right conditions are met:

 

1. Three-fifths of legislature approves of the map, including 1/2 of the minority members.
2. Special commission including governor, state auditor, secretary of state, and four legislators including two from minority party. Majority of members must approve of map, including the minority party members.
3. Three-fifths of legislature approves of map, including 1/3 of minority members.
4. Majority of party may adopt whatever they want without input from minority party, but map only exists for 4 years at a time.
5.  

Like I said, really weird law that basically does nothing but kick the can down the road and allows shorter term extreme partisan gerrymandered if that's what the majority party wants.

Does the map they have now follow this law? Or is it just for any new map that's created?

 

They could just do this with a computer.
