Future of program

No matter what happens the rest of the season, the future doesn't look bright.  NIU is not Southern Miss or SMU or BYU.  NIU is a solid Mac program with some decent talent and obviously solid coaches.  The talent on the field showed me that we are not up to standards of a Big 10 school.  Both sides of the ball.  Did this team overlook NIU, sure did.  Did we have the horse to remove a 14 deficit, not really.  NIU muffed a Punt that allowed us to make a comeback, big mo was on our side and then they walked right thru our defense to score on a 6 play drive.  Years past we would have won the game, won the game by a few points but overwhelmed the other team when it was time.

What is the insight for what lies ahead for this program?  We are skating a thin line, looking more and more like Iowa ST or Mizzou than what a once powerhouse program looked.
