A lot of people use fake ss#'s to get certain paperwork processed and/or their employers just look the other way. From what I've been told it's not really that hard to do especially for certain industries (i.e. if you're hiring someone as a cook, certain labor/manufacturing jobs, etc.) 1 Link to comment

That I'm not sure about. I'm aware of an 'employer' I guess I'll call them that has a couple of people on staff who are not legal U.S. citizens but have ss#'s, state-issued ID's, own property, etc. So, for government and tax purposes, all appears in order. I know some can get such real documents that I've been told by some HR specialists that there is no way you can catch them all. I don't know exactly how they get them. 1 Link to comment

Unless it's an employer who doesn't even pay taxes, the taxes are taken out just like normal and the employee never sees the benefit such as social security..etc. It's the reason why the comment that these illegals are here mooching off of us tax payers is such BS.
