Ya, I don't think I'd take a step down at this point if I was Frosty.  He's got nothing but upside where he is at and better programs will come after him.  Why settle for a team that isn't even in the Top 3 of their half of the conference?

He would be a fool to leave. if he does, I would be really pumped have him here...I just don't see it happening. All we can hope is that we finally open the piggy bank and throw an obscene amount of money at him.

I do not get the Scott Frost talk. His offense would not be a good fit for Nebraska or for being competitive in the Big10 (imho). We want to be what Wisconsin or Ohio State is, an offense that has an OL that can beat down a defense & impose their will. You don't get that with a spread offense.

That at being said, we could hardly be much worse than be are right now.

Just listened to a husker podcast. It blows my mind that people don't think SF is ready.  His resume could not be much better than it currently is.  Won a title with Nebraska.  Played NFL as QB and safety.  Worked as a defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator and a head coach. Both his parents are football coaches.  Helped take Oregon to the  a national championship.  Worked with many iconic coaches.  Made an 0-12 ranked after a year and a half.  I'm sorry he didn't beat Alabama or Clemson with UCF in the national championship last year.

Why do we think Frost would agree to leave UCF now in the midst of their best season in school history to come to Nebraska who is having one of its worse seasons in school history.  UCF should win out, and may make a New Year's six bowl.  Does anyone think Frost would abandon his team prior to New Years if they make a bowl game on January 1?

I think it's time to accept the reality that Nebraska may never be a top program again. We've lost all our advantages and why coach at Nebraska when you can coach at any school in Texas, California, or the South East?

This. I read an article about all the past national champions and they were all either in prime recruiting states,  or bordered one. They said Nebraska's success was pretty much a miracle. We struck gold with Devaney and TO. It may be time to just be glad we lived it and accept reality.

Maybe Scott Frost is the third in that heavenly trio but I am not holding my breath. Life is too short to get this worked up with could have, should have, might be.

No I actually think it would be best for him to finish out at UCF, unless they pull a jackass move and force him out.  But there is no reason we can't get him now with a contract that becomes effective once the UCF season is over.  It will be big $ and lengthy contract.  I will be shocked if someone else outbids us and I think I would just bail for some time because you can't be this stupid to screw this up.

The main question is does Scott Frost need Nebraska.  In honesty I don't think he needs us at all.  We have proven to be so far over the top, why would he want or need to deal with it at this time.  He is a god where he is at, and most likely could develop that program into a National Power if he is anywhere near the coach some of you claim he is.

I think we are becoming our own worst enemy in this hunt.  Especially if he does decide it isn't the place for him.  What will the next coach expect.  Sometimes silence is golden.

Unless they join a power 5 they have a ceiling much lower than us

1. reading this thread is really sad.

2. some of you arent giving the nebraska brand enough credit

3. nebraska has proven that it can be a place to recruit good enough talent in modern times. don't let results fool you.

4. if you think little baby boy scott frost who bleeds husker red and would cut off both wrists for tom osborne wouldnt come here and its not his first choice.... what are you doing

5. if you think scott doesnt think nebraska has everything required to win now.... what are you doing

6. ucf is not what you make out to be.... top level talent living right next door to ucf go to schools like nebraska all the time.

Not really Melscott62.  They go undefeated,  he has a chance.   Big Ten will have a loss,  ACC will have a loss, Pac 12 will have a loss,  Big 12 will have a loss,  I say this as most likely.  Not there yet.   But only Bama looks to be undefeated at the end.  You get two loss champions, who knows what happens.

I think he would be a great choice for Nebraska, there are others though.  I am not against him coming back home.  But I really think the only reason he will come back is loyalty and love of Nebraska.  Money is not going to be the deciding factor.  I think it will have a lot to do with Coach Osborne and what he advises him to do.

But I do not believe he will turn the program around as quickly as some feel it will happen.  There are a lot of problems, and I don't give a rats bottom what all the recruiting gurus say, we are not any where near as talented as Ohio State.  Not even close.  To beat that level of a program, you have to have similar talent, and equal or near coaching. Or you have to have a scheme that is different, and recruited for.  IE our offense of the 90's and our pipeline.  Unfortunately today most have the ability to build O and D linemen.  We don't seem to be able to recruit them or develop them.   And that has gone on since Solich left.   If we hire him and he has a blow out loss in the first year, this board will be on fire with what have we done?

I know I don't have the knowledge or ability to tell if he is the answer.   My first choice would be Kyle Whittingham of Utah.  I think he would fit at Nebraska in every aspect.

this is a joke. it all boils down to coaching. period.

everyone said the same exact thing and then bo came in and gave the nfl one of the best talents they have ever seen. coaching coaching coaching.

at this point im more worried about bringing in consultants for the ad.... isnt that what happened with eichorst? too much math and numbers and not enough "get scott on the phone"
