You are skeptical of John Cook, so you lose credibility on judging coaches.

BTW - it's not just NU clamoring for SF's services.  He's pretty much sought after by every open and soon to be open job.  He's this year's "IT" guy, and he's coming home.

Don't care if no one you know likes his family or not.  Don't care if you think we're hero worshiping or not.  I'm going to keep quoting Zach Duval's interview with Rivals in that high achievers like to be around high achievers, and low achievers do not like hanging around with high achievers.  He is a high achiever, no one can argue that at all.  He is good at whatever he sets his mind to do.

Right now, he is what we need in that he brings us hope.   No one is arguing we're winning a NC this year or next (or ever again).  We want to see some quality football, and the rest will come as it may.  He gives us hope that we can compete.

I partially agree with you. Scott Frost isn't coming here to finish 2nd or 3rd in the conference or even the West division. His goal has and always will be to win a national championship but to do it here is his ultimate dream. He'll work towards that for as long as it takes and I certainly think there is a serious possibility that Nebraska can be what Wisconsin is now.

And when you have a good Nebraska team and a good Wisconsin team battling it out for division titles every year, that's going to start a rivalry. That's a realistic scenario, IMO.

What are they saying? I’m not able to watch it.

Nothing of any consequence.

Looking to stir the pot. Looking for a story. Trying to fill 3 hrs of show with only a handful of games today.

10:00 and they’ve run out of stuff to talk about. Blah blah blah

That should be his ultimate goal.  But, we have to take care of the little details first, and the big things fall into place.

These are the same guys who said prior to the Fiesta Bowl vs. Florida that Nebraska couldn't run on grass. They're clueless.

Flashier facilities maybe. I wouldn't say Oregon has better facilities than us though I wouldn't say we have better facilities than Oregon either.

Did Taggert leave?  I thought he signed an extension yesterday and got a raise....

While I completely understand the concerns of the naysayers out there, and agree we need to give our next coach (Scott Frost) ample time to actually start winning again, there hasn’t been much to hope for this season and Scott Frost gives us that hope.

So...in case this Megathread gets locked this weekend, “May the Horn of Helm Hammerhand Sound in the deep...one last time.”

Gandalf=Scott Frost :D

Orcs=The B1G (We’re coming for you).

I don't think anyone has unrealistic expactiations for Frosts tenure. Frost will get 3 or 4 years to be improving this team into a division title contender. If he can't do that then maybe he isn't the right guy. We have the talent to compete right now. He needs time to implement his way but any coach that is going to be successful here shouldn't be finishing any lower than 3rd in the division come year 3.

I was thinking the same thing.  Different style not necessarily better.

I honestly don't  know or care because I don't think it matters as far as Frost is concerned. I'm not worried in the slightest at this point. It is pretty clear what is going to happen at this point given the silence from our side all week long.

I don't think it matters at this point either.  My head is just spinning with all the comings and goings of the last 4 days I'm not sure if I'm remembering things correctly or not.

I stopped watching them long ago because it got to be such a love fest for one conference.  SEC blah blah blah SEC blah blah blah SEC

I assume that hasn't changed.

Wow! Thank you! Tired of this narrative, the stars have truly aligned for this to happen this year. All things considered, I don’t see how Nebraska can possibly do better than Scott Frost right now. We’re very lucky and we should treat him as such. Give him some time, he will deliver.

84Husker Law-If you went to law school you must be intelligent, but it’s rarely reflected in your long drawn out posts. Don’t over think it! Chill. Enjoy.

If he doesn't, he and his family, even his third cousins twice removed, will have to flee the country to Brazil or some place.  That is what's wrong here.  There seems to be this 'second coming' kind of admiration and worship of Scott Frost.  I am just not sure why.   He did good things as a player and he has been successful as an assistant coach for the most part anyway.  As a HC, he has had one great season.  That is hardly the resume' of the next Bear Bryant or Tom Osborne or Meyer or any of a dozen other great coaches.  Nearly all the truly great coaches became great in their 50s and even 60s.  Frost is 42 or so - meaning we have to wait another 10 years for him to get into that great vintage category.   Are all the Frosties really ready to wait patiently and stop complaining about each and every little thing while he becomes great?   I am just wondering as this mob mentality is the worst I've ever seen regarding Husker football.

I am not so sure that Husker Nation is as 'united' on this Frost Warning as some would suggest.   I know a few folks who personally know the Frost family (Scott and parents in particular) and they are fairly unanimous in their dislike and lack of respect.   I don't want to throw water on your bonfire but I think everybody needs to slow down on the Kool Aid party - its been so long and many are so thirsty its understandable but still.   Take a deep breath and get real people.

Are you trolling? I don't know this board quite well enough yet, so I have to believe you're trolling. I seriously could not disagree with this entire post more. First off, as far as I'm concerned, Frost has had 2 great seasons as a head coach. Improving a team from 0-12 to 6-7 IS great. And that's 2 more great seasons as a head coach than Osborne had before he became NU's head coach. The implication that there's some magical age a coach has to be to be to belong here is laughable. Top 10 coaches Lincoln Riley (34), Kirby Smart (41), James Franklin (45), Clay Helton (45) and Dabo Swinney (48) all say, "Hey." No, they're not Tom Osborne level yet, but neither was Tom Osborne when he started. Every single person I've talked to realizes that Frost has a tough road ahead of him and the almost unanimous opinion is that he needs a solid 5 years before expectations even begin to ramp up. Basically everyone just wants improvement. As for people who don't like him or his family, that's the most petty, ignorant thing I've ever heard. I could not care less if the coach at NU is someone I'd like to sit down and have a drink with. I think Saban comes across as a world class d-bag while I would pay good money to spend an afternoon listening to Mike Leach just ramble on. Guess who I'd rather have as my coach.
