I think I agree with what you are saying.  I've always questioned these statistics.

So, let's say the income threshold for poverty is at $33,000 per year.  That is very very different if that family is living in Los Angeles compared to small town Nebraska.

Yep

Democrats want to know every time you have a banking transaction over $600.   That is all hope, Hope you are all happy with what you voted for.

What’s the reasoning for that?

I would assume if they “needed” to know bank transactions for investigations it wouldn’t be hard to get them with a warrant.

I’m guessing it’s part of the increased IRS investigative enforcement they want which is part of what they believe will raise government revenue.

Why would we not want to increase IRS investigative enforcement to at least make sure everyone is paying what the tax codes calls for?

I actually had this conversation with last night with two very conservative CPAs.  Anyone who every once in a while works with the IRS knows their technology and computer systems are so antiquated that it's almost impossible for them to do their jobs.  This is ridiculous.  They were saying that most disputes the IRS has with someone's taxes get dropped, not because of proof the person paid appropriate taxes, but because the IRS doesn't have the ability to pursue it.  Also, upgrading their computer systems would allow them to clear up disputes much quicker allowing people who are doing it correctly to clear up the dispute.

We have a military that we spend trillions of dollars to have way over the needed capabilities...but, gosh darn it, don't even try to give the IRS the ability to do their jobs.

My opinion is that the reason why politicians don't want to do this is that it would give the IRS the ability to investigate THEM.

I am thinking the progressive crowd is creating converts. I wonder how long before Maher is a guest on Gutfeld.

Maher kicked off the show's panel discussion by tackling the in-party fighting among Democrat lawmakers over the $1.5 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill and the $3.5 spending bill being championed by the progressive wing, noting how the far left members of the party were "very mad" at Sinema and Manchin for not backing it.

“They're mad at them because they're not progressive enough -- forgetting that they only got elected because they're not progressives! They're moderates," Maher said.

"Here's my question: Does spending more money make you a better person? Or a bigger moderate?" Maher asked. "And maybe these two, Sinema and Manchin … might have their thumb more on the pulse on the average Democrat in the country."

During his opening monologue, Maher noted Congress averted a government shutdown by passing a continuing resolution, sparking cheers from the audience.

"You're cheering? Because we made it through 'til Dec. 3. That's what they did!" Maher reacted. "This is the equivalent of putting duct tape on your shower nozzle until you actually call the plumber."

The HBO star blasted the "stupid, stupid game of chicken" between Democrats and Republicans, pointing out "at the last minute, Democrats had to back down."

"Nancy Pelosi blinked, which is itself new," Maher quipped.

A rich guy doesn't support progressives?!?! No way!

Mainstream Americans don't want the country turning radically socialist.

But interestingly enough they support radically socialist policies when you describe them correctly. Because they aren't necessarily radical. Or socialist.

The private profit and public safety net arrangement is what Made America Great. A lot of money is spent to make billionaires sound like the victims in this saga, because billionaires can afford it.

It's a shame how Republicans get the working class to act against their self-interest, and appalling how poorly Democrats relate to what should be their base.
