I mean I would love to get this kid, he looks like a gamer; however, if you look at our depth at LB, he's a luxury and not a glaring need:

30 Quayshon Alexander LB 6-3 245 So. Prospect Park, N.J. (De Paul Catholic)
7 Mohamed Barry LB 6-1 230 Jr. Grayson, Ga. (Grayson)
22 Alex Davis LB 6-5 255 Jr. Riviera Beach, Fla. (Dwyer)
43 Tyrin Ferguson LB 6-2 225 Jr. New Orleans, La. (Edna Karr)
12 Luke Gifford LB 6-3 235 Sr. Lincoln, Neb. (Southeast)
33 Willie Hampton LB 6-1 225 RFr. Plantation, Fla. (American Heritage)
32 Pernell Jefferson LB 6-2 235 So. New Orleans, La. (Warren Easton)
40 Grant Jordan LB 6-2 205 So. Omaha, Neb. (Westside)
36 Spencer Jordan LB 6-2 210 So. Omaha, Neb. (Westside)
17 Sedrick King LB 6-4 245 Sr. Plant City, Fla. (Plant City)
42 Cody Liske LB 6-0 200 RFr. Bennington, Neb. (Bennington)
31 Collin Miller LB 6-3 235 So. Fishers, Ind. (Hamilton Southeastern)
14 Avery Roberts LB 6-1 230 So. Wilmington, Del. (Concord)
95 Ben Stille LB 6-5 255 So. Ashland, Neb. (Ashland-Greenwood)
18 Guy Thomas LB 6-3 200 RFr. Miami, Fla. (Booker T. Washington)
52 Andrew Ward LB 6-1 200 RFr. Muskegon, Mich. (Muskegon)

I think the worry is ILB, not OLB. Barry will improve a ton next year under the new staff. I still can't wait to see G Thomas get some PT

Besides Gifford, who on this list are you really comfortable with. He's the only one I'm comfortable with. Stille is a maybe. But Honas will give us an actual experienced good LB, because we don't have one on this list. He will be a good stepping stone until our young guys can learn and get experience.

Considering the lack of development and the fact Mcbride said on that podcast how there was zero time allocated in practice to individual work for players on the defense, I think the ceiling is high on most of these guys.  Again, I would love to get this kid. He looks like a day one starter, but there is also a lot of undeveloped D1 talent on this roster.

I agree, I think there is some good talent on that list, but nothing really proven you can really count on. Honas gives us a known entity to bridge any gap it is going to take to get youngins up to speed.

I'm glad the old staff wasted Roberts' redshirt on 4 tackles.
