Frost said again today in his presser that he is expecting Watt to be here.

You generally know if there are circumstances that may make them question the grades, it's just a question of the clearinghouse getting through all the players this time of year.

According to Watt he got a 27 and a 25 the last two times he took the ACT.  But the NCAA flagged it for further investigation, supposedly because of the high score.  So he is still waiting to hear back from the NCAA on being cleared.

I'm not terribly up on this stuff, but the numbers you are using have to be composite scores, correct?

If so, this article states that "your composite score doesn’t really matter for NCAA. Instead, NCAA adds your section scores together to get a sum score. "

Also, it states that "For Division I players, NCAA uses a sliding scale that compares your core GPA and ACT scores. If you have a higher GPA, you can meet the eligibility requirements with lower scores. Conversely, if you have a lower GPA, you'll have to make up the difference with higher ACT scores."

So, do we know his GPA? Do we know what target on the sliding scale he would have to meet? (If we do, it is a FERPA violation, unless it comes from the student themselves).

Those are surprising scores based on him being an academic concern and his grade issues in school.

Maybe he is really smart but not ideal it got flagged.

If he was working on improving his ACT score it wouldn't surprise me he got those scores. ACT follows a certain structure and there are a few prep courses out there that do a great job of helping you identify these patterns and thus improve your scores. The science section is especially structured mainly dealing with graph interpretation. I tend to believe kids are typically smarter than they score but hold themselves back for one reason or another.
