More trash talk.

Our only real motivation on Saturday is to take the lead in the all-time series against the Corn. Mac, of course, has his personal streak against Miles to keep alive.

I’m really excited to see Scurry crowned as our new scoring threat. Ronnie might break some of the rebounding records of HOF member Paul Silas. Clement also might break some of Ryan Sears’ assist records.

Historic game this Saturday.

With Nebraska being such a dominant basketball force 24 years ago, and Creighton not really being a national force, many fans have been left wondering what changed.

The answer boils down to having an identity. When Dana Altman became Creighton’s head coach in 1994, he arrived at a program in the cellar of the Missouri Valley Conference.

Altman quickly built an identity for the team, re-establishing the Bluejays as a force in their conference. After Altman left to become Oregon’s next head coach, Creighton underwent a meaningful identity shift.

Enter Greg McDermott, who joined the Bluejays from Iowa State and transformed Creighton into a shooter’s paradise. In barely any time at all, McDermott created a style of offense centered around fast-paced attacks, 3-point shots and non-stop scoring. The team even made a new motto to match the product on the floor: “Let it Fly.”

In that regard, Nebraska should look toward Creighton as an example of how to build a program’s identity. Of course, the Big Ten is a much different conference than the Big East, so it would be foolish to expect the same style of play to work at Nebraska.

Still, even within the Big Ten, Nebraska basketball has failed to establish a clear identity for itself.

It’s difficult to pinpoint what exactly Nebraska’s brand on the basketball court is, but that’s not the worst thing in the world. Not every program has a defining philosophy, nor is it a prerequisite for success. But one thing is very clear when comparing Nebraska and Creighton: the Bluejays have a brand, an identity and a philosophy and it’s working for them.

Meanwhile, the identity-less Huskers have had only a fraction of Creighton’s success in the past 20 years.

The Creighton men's basketball team never trailed in an 111-68 win over North Dakota on Tuesday to open a five-game homestand.

Creighton improved to 6-2 on the season with its 18th straight non-conference home win, while North Dakota dropped to 4-4 and has alternated wins and losses in its last 10 games dating to last season. It was the first meeting between the schools since 1975, and 13th overall.

The game was tied at 11 at the first media timeout before an 8-0 Bluejay run turned the game in CU's favor.  The lead stretched into double-figures on a Martin Krampelj trey to make it 26-15 with 11:17 left in the first half, and the Jays led by as much as 20 (51-31) in the first half before the Fighting Hawks scored the final six points of the opening stanza.

The Bluejays outscored the Fighting Hawks 60-31 in the second half, shooting 62.9 percent, en route to the win. A 12-0 run in less than two minutes stretched the margin to 102-66 with 3:36 to go before CU finished off its largest margin of victory since a 113-58 victory over Longwood on Dec. 9, 2016.

Spread will be early Saturday morning at most places.  Got to think that this will be a -10 type of line, right?  I have not checked KenPom to get an idea.

Minnesota was -9 right? I could see Creighton -10, being at home and all

He was good for being from a small class in NE.  If he was in the east, schools in Lincoln & Omaha (Class A or B) would have made him look very average.

Or, he raises his game like he has in college to the level of the people around him.

BTW...we are going to kick their asses!!!!

If Nebraska has any pride they will play their tails off from start to finish. There needs to be a sense of urgency to compete and beat these guys. If we can be in it until the end I would be really happy win or lose. I just do not want another embarrassment from playing Creighton, lets at least make it a respectable series.
