I watched most of the game but will admit I didn't watch BB on every snap.  On the plays that I did watch him, it wasn't that he was getting over powered, he wasn't moving his feet fast enough to stay in front of Smith. Add the 20 or so pounds he has lost and he would be even slower.

I haven't watched the game yet (it's on my DVR).

But he was in an All-Star game with some of the best players in the country.  Not just the guys he was having to block but the other OTs on his team.  He was chosen to start and be a captain.  Obviously the coaches though he was pretty good.  I think he'll be fine.

This was a later post of mine you may not have seen yet:

Good points from you both.  I do think that a year or more on the weights, improving his flexibility but also realizing that unlike high school, the men he will line up against in the BIG 10 aren't in awe of him.  BB will mature and figure out what the coaches want.  If he can develop a nasty mentality he should be a good one.

Physical Prowess Award:

"This award is given to the best-looking prospect on the hoof, the guy who looks like he could play in college or even the NFL right now, and Bryce Benhart  is one of those guys. The Nebraska offensive line signee is all of 6-foot-9 and he will be well over 300 pounds but is trimmed up now for wrestling season. No offensive lineman looked even close to him physically."

Yet Rivals has him as a three star, bump is past due.

Certainly in line for a bump from rivals, however didn't crack the top 100 in the release today. I'd assume he'd bump somewhere into the top 250 in tomorrow's release.

For at least a portion of the game, he was going against Nolan Smith, the #1 recruit in the nation.

Didn't crack the Rivals 100 but I'd expect to see a big jump from him and possibly into the top 250 based on reports from the All American Bowl.

Post twins :) I would be SHOCKED if he didn't get a spot in tomorrows release.

From where ever rivals had him to 139. Finally a 4 star.

I'd imagine of all of our players, his composite would see the largest jump. Wandale and Ty's went up almost none from their jumps.

Composite now a .9426

Sure would be nice to pass arkansas.........:nutz

If neither South Carolina nor Arkansas get a commit before Saturday, we'll pass them both (and be breathing down Stanford's neck).  chuckleshuffle

The 247 class calculator is a fun tool, but as an Arkansan, it would be sweeter to pass the piggies.

I like his weight but Ideally I think he puts on 135 pounds. I like that height/weight combination.

6'8" 420 lbs would be quite the Tackle

Wow dropped from #64 to #121 on 247. Surprised he dropped that far.

General consensus appears Rivals had him underrated and 247 had him overrated. They ended up pretty close to each other.

He also wasn’t playing at his football weight during the all-American bowl week because of wrestling, right? All eyes on him there, and maybe they felt he shouldn’t be ranked as high but didn’t take that in to effect? Idk, just a guess.

They don’t put that much weight on that game

I sat near Benhart last night at the team state wrestling tournament.  In the words of famous former Huskerboard member, EZ-E, “He looks the part.”

I don't know much about wrestling, but that's cool to watch.  Striking how slim the kid is.

His opponent is what we call a fish.  Once he goes to his back there is no fight, just a wiggle. lol

Ha, that's pretty par for the course for any HWTs tho honestly with the exception of the top flight guys.  It's pretty much game over once one of those big fellas gets the other guy on the back and they just seems to embrace it.  Plus, Benhart is obviously a strong guy so he's getting squeezed pretty good.  I also chuckled a bit when one guy would do a headthrow, hip toss or another throw and the guy would lock his arms around the guy after he landed flat on his back and got stuck...it's like your just making yourself more flat!  As opposed to locking your hands right when he got tossed or hit the mat so he could try and pop his hips and try and do a roll through.

I was 112, so there very few throws.  I miss those days!

Yup that's very true.  I imagine you'd be able to pop the occasional headlock/lateral drop but that would be about it.

My closest thing to a headlock was getting my opponent high on the ride.  Which a lot of young kids did.

I threw a lot of kids at 103 and 112, most out of a sprawl and front quarter nelson. Pop his head down to the mat a few times and they will pop their head up and you can throw a front pancake.
