S/OLB/RB Travis Lewis

Recommended Posts

Player: Travis Lewis

Hometown: San Antonio, TX

Position: SS/OLB/RB

Height: 6’1”

Weight:215

40 time: 4.34

Visit Date:

Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Arizona, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ok. State, Rice, UTEP

Favorites: Committed to Nebraska

Rankings/Stars:

Rivals: :star :star :star:star

Bid Red Report:#6/ :star:star:star:star

Assessing the talent: 2005: Well, the measurables are there, aren't they? This guy could be an incredible Will linebacker or the SS that gives Big 12 WRs nightmares. Is also an RB, but was injured for more than half of his junior year. Ran for more than 600 yards in four games.

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 85% Supposedly, he was close to committing to OU, but Stoops gave him an ultimatim, which caused him to back off. It looks to be down to us and OU, and I'll always give OU the edge until we start winning more recruiting battles. Elmassian is recruiting the kid. Helps that he's from San Antonio, no?

i really wonder about Stoops and his tactics sometimes......works for some, for others it probably doesn't......seems like kind of an arrogant jerk to me....

Like Herron, he has us in the lead, and he's THIS close to being a :star:star:star:star .

We've got a great shot at this kid. He could be a stud.

I wish he would just go ahead and pull the trigger. He eventually will, but now would be better! With his size/speed numbers he could be amazing for us.

According to the ratings so far, 2 or 3 commits that are 3 :star are close to being bumped up. I think this kid will commit soon. It helps that his buddy has already committed and is working on him now. Just a matter of time. This recruiting class is going to end up being really strong if it continues to progress this way.

When you look at this kids size and speed you wonder how the heck he is not at least a 4*.

its not always about the numbers. size and speed doesnt always translate into a good football player. its more difficult to measure instincts, intelligence, work ethic, and character.

not saying he doesnt have any of those, just consider it a friendly reminder.

Yeah...thats all true. This guy seems to be an animal though. Give it time and he'll get his 4 stars.

It's been real quiet with this kid so far. He has almost 800 rushing in four games so far his senior year.

After watching KU run circles around our LBs, I would love to have this kid, Herron, and Earl Patin as our next crop of LBs. Speed kills, baby...

Grrrrr.

He doesn't have a visit date yet, does he?

I hope he has a visit set. This one I REALLY want to be in red for us. He's definitely on the top of my recruits to get.

He's up on the front page of Huskers Illustrated over at Rivals. Looks like he's going to visit.

We could very well get a commit out of this guy!!

Hopefully. He would be a great get for the class.

This is one athlete that we could really use. I'll sleep even better when I see that he is committed to Nebraska. We can't let him go anywhere else.

I think he might be my most wanted recruit out of this cycle. I think he could be a beast of a safety, we need someone that will strike fear in other teams receivers.

Or a WLB that flies around the field a la Demorrio Williams.

:yeah

That's what I was thinking.

Between him, Herron, Patin, Lewis, Glover, and Lawrence, I'd feel pretty damn good about our LB corps for the next few years.

His visit was great. He even liked the weather with the snow. The fans also really stuck out to him. He should know in a few weeks after his OU visit where he will be going for college.

Now a :star:star:star:star MLB, and Scout's #6 prospect in the NATION at that position.

He's a must get. I get giddy thinking of him, Patin, Herron, Glover, and Lawrence all as Blackshirts....

if we get Patin, Herron and Lewis in addition to the other 2 that have committed, this will be a huge haul for the defense
