Stormy Daniels vs. The Donald

How does this not have its own thread?  This is a hilarious example of so many things:

A porn star (and lawyer) running circles around Donald and his bigly legal team

Massive, MASSIVE hypocrisy by the evangelicals who preach morality but support a horrifically immoral man

The failure of conservatives to elect an actual conservative

The willful ignorance of the above fact by said conservatives

The utter failure of the Republicans in Washington to police their own (and yes, I understand all the facets of that statement)

More (I don't have time to recite it all right now)

Word on the street (read: The Twitter) is that The Donald is having kittens about not being able to respond to this.

Can't wait until he does. It's gonna be epic.

Given where Trump and the broader GOP are at with women:

I can't imagine if and when he does finally unload on her it's going to do good things for these numbers.

Adult film star or no, he's already got a reputation as a sexist and everyone knows it. Trump's GOP is developing a very serious women problem.

Anyhow, maybe if Trump uses the F word enough, Christians will realize that, no, he's not a changed man. He said he was saved in 2016 because he wanted the Christian vote, idiots.

I find it super telling that of all the topics he has an opinion on, and all those that he goes against his lawyers advice on and talks anyway that he's said ZERO about her or this case.  Whatever she has on him must be bad.  Real bad.  I'm recording 60 mins and I'll bet the ratings are over the top - which will just amp up the insult to him even more as he's so into ratings.  It's going to be a good day.

I have a strong suspicion this is going to be a Rivera opening Capone's vault moment - a whole lot of hype for very little content.

60 Minutes isnt' known for doing that sort of story ...

It's an interview. Unless 60 Minutes knows what the interviewee is going to say in advance, there's no way to know if the interview will have much content.

I suspect it'll just be that she had an affair with Trump which Trump and team then tried to cover up. The media will try to play up the porn star angle. None of that moves the needle for me - it's all stuff we already know, and it really doesn't have any impact on if Trump can govern or not. I didn't care that Clinton was getting BJ's or that he lied about it, and I don't care if Trump had affairs and lied about it. (Although the power dynamic of Clinton over Lewinsky was problematic, and I don't even have that concern with Trump.)

They won't. A bunch of them are hypocrites and will back Trump on anything because he says he's pro-life

My understanding is that it was taped a month or more ago.  They have enough of a reputation to uphold that I doubt it will turn into a total circus.  I'm guessing lots of info on the legal ramifications of the payment.

I'm going to choose to believe that while it won't move the needle for many of us (those of us who hate him will dislike him more and those who love him will find nothing wrong with his actions) there are a subset of older folks who still look to 60 Mins as a reputable news outlet.  And Anderson Cooper is well respected - I hope that they do the story justice and then the chips fall where they may.

I'm with RedDenver on this one.  Donald Trump is a dirtbag, we all know it.  A lot of Americans dislike him because of it, and a lot of Americans don't care.  Unless this interview somehow opens the door to illegal activities it is really nothing more than "click bait" for TV.

edit:  but I'll still tune in and watch :)

Donald Trump has run pageants, hotels and casinos.  He's on his third marriage.

He's a reality television personality.

I think few, evangelicals included, are surprised about accusations regarding his personal behavior.

Many things about his behavior came out in the months and weeks before the election.  This stuff isn't exactly "hot off the press".

I'm interested to see where they go with the "threats" by Trump's team.  I'm guessing it will get covered in the interview.  The "warning shot" DVD is more likely to have evidence of that than sex acts (man I hope there isn't a sex tape.....) if it actually contains anything at all.
