I live in a part of southern Ohio where most folks are fans of the Bengals. There have been a couple of times in the past few years when the Bengals have started 3-0 and people around here start talking about the Super Bowl. To me, this concept is on a similar level of unreasonable premature absurdity as folks talking about Nebraska basketball in the Final Four.

Us Bengals fans come back to reality when we either get crushed by the Steelers a few times or we get crushed in the first round of the playoffs. Just enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Final Four? I just want to win 1 NCAA tournament game.

Wow...while this path would assuredly help us get our first NCAA Tourney win...we'd be screwed after. We'd likely have to play North Carolina...then likely Nevada, then likely Gonzaga.

That's a hard row to plow right there for *ANY* school, let alone DoNU.

Win the next 2 and the collapse at MN becomes an afterthought.

Ideally for every home B1G loss we can win +1 on the road (so if we lose 1 home game, need to win 2 road games; if we lose 2 home games, need to win 3 road games; etc).  Doing that would put us at least at 11-9 in conference.  With everyone touting how tough the B1G will be, that should be good to get in.

So in two conference games we've gone from being a dark-horse title contender to middle-of-the-pack?

I am just talking about making the tournament.  Not sure where I was talking about a formula to win the conference.

Sorry, that wasn't supposed to be trying to argue with you.  Just interesting that we've often been picked near the top of the conference and now you brought up being barely over .500 in conference.  That's a bit of a switch.

No one wants to just make the tournament.  You jump in as a 10 seed and you lose then what?  Last night was an example of the types of games that separate a 5-6 seed from a 9-10 seed.  The expectation this season is not to make the tournament, it’s to make the tournament and win games.  The thought of not making the tourney with this roster would mean an implosion, we need to worry about seeding.

Trying to balance it out over the long haul.  Barfy was over-negative about Nebraska.  Now his replacement is on the other end.

So I just was catching up on news and saw that Seton Hall beat Kentucky... that's got to be good for us right?

Very good fot us. I watched the last 5 minutes of regulation & OT. Was an amazing game to watch.

Jerry Palm updated his projection today on CBS Sports.  Six seed in Jacksonville vs Utah State.

I gotta admit, it'd be pretty cool to see Nebraska get to the Sweet 16 even if it meant getting their heads caved in by Duke.

If that were to be the case (I know it won't) that would be a really good draw for Nebraska if they get past Oregon. They wouldn't have to deal with a team like Duke, Gonzaga, or North Carolina

Oregon makes me nervous because of their defense and of course they are athletic.

We have had some struggles with athletic defenses(Texas Tech/ first half of Okie Lite).

That all being said, Oregons offense is pathetic.

They only scored 47 against Baylor.  Have losses against Texas Southern, Houston and Iowa. Only saving grace is a win against Syracuse.

Virginia Tech then Kansas then Nevada or Wisco.... I could dig it. I think Kansas is beatable.

really like this site. Gathers all the brackets in one place. Well we seeded anywhere from a 2 seed(yep) all the way to a 11 seed. We are in all 35 brackets they list.  With  an avg seed of 6.

Does Miles' mom make a bracket?

Quite possibly.  But if we win the big ten tourney I could see a 3 seed but yeah a 2 is a pipe dream.

#10 in the conference.  #12 in the country.

Ummmmm......... OK .........

Tenth in the conference with close road loses to teams ranked 26, 36 & 56 in the NET rankings & blowout home wins over teams ranked 45 & 48, a close road win over 51 & a "neutral site" blowout win over 65.  The computers love big point spreads.

Based on the non-conference schedule, NU should still have a decent seed right now.  The team just needs to right the ship a bit before the losing becomes contagious and the conference season ends up being a bust.  That's how NU will get left out of the NCAA tournament.

I think that they are likely to lose their next two games (at Indiana, Michigan State), but they should win 9 of the next 10.

If we lose the next two, we'll be 2-5 in conference with the two wins coming over teams that are currently winless in conference.

Not saying they can't, but "expecting" them to win 9 of the next 10 seems a bit ambitious.

I get that is is ambitious, but after Michigan State, the schedule is six home games (OSU, Wisconsin, Maryland, Minnesota, Northwestern & Purdue) and four road games (Rutgers, Illinois, Purdue & Penn State).  They should have beaten Maryland & Minnesota away, so you'd hope those would be wins.  Northwestern is very offensively challenged and a worse road team the Nebraska.  OSU, Wisconsin & Purdue should be close, but the home crowd should push the Huskers to win.  Rutgers & Illinois are improving, but haven't really figured out how to win (yes I know Rutgers just beat OSU) & Penn State will be playing for the end of the Pat Chambers era by the time Nebraska gets there.
