Word is Dixon has to take care of off-field issues before he sees playing time.

 

Jurgens will need another year to beef up but will play some. Expect Bland to play the center position until Jurgens is ready.

OL Depth

LT: Jameis, Gaylord

LG: Wilson, Raridon

C: Bland, Jurgens, W. Farniok

RG: Raridon, Hixon

RT: M. Farniok, Benhart, Sichterman

 

Once Benhart is game ready Farniok will slide to guard. That could happen as soon as next year depending on Raridon's development. Also, if Jurgens is game ready Bland will slide over to guard as well. I think 2020 is when Jurgens starts at center. Wilson will be a stud for us down the road and Jameis will continue to improve. Benhart and Farniok should be a nice rotation on the right side. We just need to build solid depth behind these guys and next year is when we will really rotate lineman in. However, the center doesn't seem like a good spot to do that unless the game is out of reach.

I'm curious how things will shake out with Will Farniok as he played C in high school and you would think that would give him a big edge over Jurgens.  Going to be an interesting race between the two.

Bland has also said he will be playing guard, not C.  

 

Jurgens will be plenty big enough to take over at C next year.   I bet he will be pushing 290+ by next fall.

A tough season with a lot of close games is not a scenario where you want to be unable to hit anything past a chip-shot, not a scenario where you want to be losing the ST's battle in general. Would have liked to have seen Frost make sure Pickering got at least one mid-length fieldgoal try against BC, maybe with a little pressure off he hits one and gets out of his head. Yes it's been a long time since we've struggled with kicking, definitely took it for granted.
