One more time,

Here are the cold hard numbers.....

39 bowls....78 teams need six wins to be bowl eligible

After last weekend...

71 teams have at least six wins....7 spots left.

22 teams have five wins.  Six of them have head to head games this week guaranteeing three more six win teams...4 spots left.

Of the 16 remaining, in my opinion, six are overwhelming favorites.  If, we are in the what if stage, If all six win there will be 80 six win teams.  This is not counting a couple of four win teams that just scheduled a "ho hummer" to get to six.  cough cough...V Tech

What if the 16 remaining teams all lose.  Talk to your local bookie, ask what are the odds of hitting a 16 team parlay.  Then the  RULE established after the 2015 comes into play.  Which is the APR ranking is the selection order for five win teams.  And after last weekend, four teams are ahead of Nebraska in APR,  and voila 78 bowl spots are filled and Nebraska coached get to go recruiting.

Based on head to heads and APR there is a 0% chance now. There is not a single bowl available for us no matter what happens. I assume that’s what you’re saying with the last paragraph...

I don't know any Husker fans who are sad right now.

If Frosty couldn't get us out of the slump, no one could (because after another failure this job wouldn't be very desirable anymore).  Luckily, this ship has already turned.

umm, that ship isn't turning, as you can see by the zig zag wake, it's drilling taking evasive maneuvers in the event of a torpedo attack, most likely by a submarine............ just sayin :P.

There is a scenario in which Nebraska still gets a bowl invite with a win over Iowa (so technically we are still alive) but the odds are incredibly against it happening.

First, 71 teams are currently bowl eligible.

The following 4  teams currently have 5 wins and are ahead of us in APR. So we must root for ALL OF THEM to win their final games and all become bowl eligible (bringing the total teams bowl eligible to 75).

Vanderbilt must beat Tennesee

and

Kansas State must beat Iowa State

and
Minnesota must beat Wisconsin

and
Maryland must beat Penn State.

In addition, Air Force and Illinois are ahead of us in APR and currently at 4 games, so we would need:

Air Force to LOSE to Colorado State

AND

Illinois to LOSE to Northwestern

Already looking dim? You ain't seen nothing yet.
Indiana plays Purdue (winner becomes bowl eligible) and Baylor plays Texas Tech (winner becomes bowl eligible) leaving ONE spot open, so Nebraska would need ALL OF THE following 13 teams to LOSE their final games:
