The Better America of our Dreams

Public schools have tons of money...what they do is spend it wrong.

6 asst superintendents in a district making 200 large each?  What, why?

Curriculum specialists in each building making 6 figures?  Why not just offer that role to the department head with a stipend on 10K...You have like 6 departments in a school, you just save another 40k.

Teachers leaving teaching to run and hide in the admin building with titles like "Head of PE Currc" . Nope...axe it.

I would love more money, but it won't make me a better teacher, it will just make me enjoy looking at my bank account.  Just like if I got more money for coaching it would not make me a better coach.

The banning from stuff is sort of whatever, that really doesn't fall under the education part in my mind.  If it is a money thing, that is lame...if it is an a$$h@!e thing, I am fine with it.

The people running it are nuts.

A lot of this is true.  Especially in my district.  But the reality is 1 admin making $150k equals maybe 4/5 new teachers with benefits.  We could use much more than 20/25 new teachers to bring our class size average down..,

Hey...those admins work hard and help out! HAHAHA

Someone needs to be walking around with coffee all day and REFUSING to cover classes so that more subs need to be called.

I’m not getting into  the whole education discussion Because I’ve spent too long at the haffbrauhause.

But, our public transportation in areas other than the east coast sucks.

And, Americans gave no clue what they are missing.

The trains in Europe were nice, but they also have a much high population density so it makes more sense economically and functionally than it does in the US. We're so much more spread out here than they are.

West of the Mississippi that's true, but having high speed rail up and down the pacific coast would make a ton of sense, as well as all over in the eastern third of the country and just a few arteries to get out west.

Sure...so, you’re not going to have routes going from Pittsburg KS to Mullen NE.

but we can have routes from all the cities from nyc to LA. Meaning....

Philly

pittsburg

cleaveland

toledo

chicago....etc

and add some smaller stops between.

omaha, Lincoln, grand island, Kearney, Lexington, north Platte, Ogallala, Sterling, fort Morgan, Denver.

that would be a great route.

dallas, OKC, Witchita, KC, omaha.

So you agree that overpaying admin isn’t a major cause of teacher shortage?

seems the opposite of your post “way back when”...

I said it is a problem with education and where the money (that is already there) is spent.  I don't think I have ever said one thing about a teacher shortage.  Is there even a teacher shortage?

Oh for sure, big time.  It is also a shortage at a lot of schools, I mean the classes themselves.

It is too bad because there is major value in that (way more than art and band...shhhh, don't tell anyone I said that).

When do your electives starts for Ind tech?  10th grade?  Do you get any girls in those classes?
