Baylor is selected to finish 2nd in the Big XII according to College Baseball Daily:

Baylor (2018 Record: 37-21, 13-11)

It was an outstanding 2018 season for Baylor as they finished fifth in the Big 12 and then ran through the Big 12 Tournament on their way to a championship.

Returning Players

Baylor will be a very experienced team in 2019 as they return their entire starting lineup and weekend rotation. Catcher Shea Langeliers returns as one of the best catching prospects in the country because of his work behind the plate. He also hit .252 last year with 49 runs scored, 18 doubles, 11 home runs, and 44 RBI. Third baseman Davis Wendzel hit .310 a season ago with 38 runs scored, 22 doubles, 8 home runs, and 49 RBI. Shortstop Nick Loftin will be back atop the lineup after hitting .306 as a freshman last season to go along with 52 runs scored, 12 doubles, 6 home runs, and 36 RBI. DH Richard Cunningham led the team with a .342 average last season to go along with 9 home runs and 38 RBI. First baseman Andy Thomas hit .324 last year with 35 runs scored and 34 RBI.

Cody Bradford will be back to lead the weekend rotation after posting a 2.51 ERA in 2018 over 96.2 innings pitched with 87 strikeouts. Hayden Kettler had a 3.81 ERA in 87.1 innings with 56 strikeouts. Kyle Hill will be a big part of a depleted bullpen after posting a 2.62 ERA in 55 innings pitched last year with 47 strikeouts and a save.

Newcomers

Freshman Anderson Needham could have an impact right away on the mound, while two-way freshman Brooks Helmer could help in both areas. JUCO transfer Logan Freeman is expected to take on a big role in the pitching staff.

Outlook for 2019

The biggest question for Baylor entering the season is the bullpen as most of it is gone, including All-American closer Troy Montemayor. Replacing those pieces, and avoiding the injury bug, will be key for their success in 2019.

Temperature will likely be better and in the 60s/70s...but there's a strong chance of Thunderstorms Saturday (per current forecast).

Makes sense to move it...but I hope the AD makes it up to the Nebraska fans somehow.

Baylor is 9-2 after beating Dallas Baptist on Tuesday, and Texas State on Sunday, but lost to Rice and Texas A&M over the weekend, RPI is 151, SOS is 247, Non-Con is 248.

Baylor dropped to #21 in D1Baseball Top 25

Would love to win this series this weekend.

I think we'd settle to win *any* series against a team with a pulse at this point...but since Baylor is an ex-Big XII foe, yeah, would love to put the hurt on them.

But seriously.  Let's be a bit realistic.  We haven't been able to practice outside at home AT ALL this year.  They've only been able to take a full batting practice before one game (the first game of the season).

We got swept by the defending national champs who could roll out one All-American pitcher after another.  Oregon State had also been in Arizona for two weeks before those games getting in practice time.

Other than that, we're 4-2 with a win over a Top 10 team.  It seems pretty whiny to continually be talking about only beating how bad you seem to think we're doing.

Especially since the non-con is looking pretty good so far, Baylor, New Mexico State, and Arizona State. Given it's early but I think if we can win against Baylor and New Mexico St and get some confidence going into Big Ten season.
