From College Baseball Daily's Big Ten Preview:

Quote

Michigan (2018 Record: 33-21, 15-8)

Many people were clamoring for Michigan to get an at-large bid last season, but their lack of big wins out of conference, and only going 1-2 in the Big Ten Tournament, kept them out despite finishing third in the Big Ten standings.

Returning Players

First baseman/outfielder Jesse Franklin had a superb freshman season hitting .327 with 31 runs scored, 11 doubles, 10 home runs, and 47 RBI in just 165 at-bats. Outfielder/DH Dominic Clementi will be back at the top of the lineup after batting .368 last year with 32 runs scored, 5 triples, 4 home runs, and 29 RBI. Outfielder/DH Miles Lewis should be a big part of the lineup in 2019.

Tommy Henry had a 3.09 ERA in 81.2 innings pitched last season with 77 strikeouts. Karl Kauffmann posted a 3.08 ERA in 79 innings pitched with 78 strikeouts. Ben Dragani posted a 2.76 ERA as a freshman last year over 75 innings with 54 strikeouts. All three should return to form a solid weekend rotation.

Outlook for 2019

This could be a big season for Michigan with plenty coming back both on offense and in the pitching staff. The key will be if those players take the next step in their evaluation. They play a much harder schedule this year, so there will be plenty of chances for high RPI wins to bolster their at-large changes.

This series could be huge for our Q1 Record. A sweep would be lovely!

We still have an outside shot at first place in the B1G, so we really do need to try and win all three.

Yea, and with who we are playing could be slight bump to rpi and if Indiana loses to Rutgers twice I would think would be enough to drop their RPI.

Either way I would like to win the tournament. Especially since it's in Omaha!

You've been drinking that kool-aide again!  Now, if the bats start to come alive in the Michigan series I might be with you.

We can agree though, that we've been past due on winning the Big Ten Tourney right?

Way past due, but I'm not sure it's this year.  Hitting .255 with 10 SOs per is not going to win many games, but I think there is potential and we defiantly have the pitching to keep us in games!

Altavilla dives to keep the ball in the infield, tags third for the second out then to first for the doubleplay!

AND THAT'S A NEBRASKA WINNER! HUSKERS WIN! HUSKERS WIN 5-2!

So if the standings hold, we'd play Minny for our first game in the B1G Tourney, and then likely Michigan again (win) or likely Maryland (Loss).

Interesting...

Let's hope they don't hold though.

Except that if we do get first or second...we run the risk of playing Iowa and Northwestern--two teams we really crapped out against.

Staying where we're at may be the best course for navigating the tournament.

I guess what I'm saying is that if they can win first or second in the regular season, that's great, but if we don't, the consolation prize may be an easier B1G Tourney (for us).

once in a awhile i would like to see nebraska really take advantage of a bases loaded opportunity early in a game.

At least we are putting the ball in play and not SO with runners on base.  Michigan had 3 errors yesterday, keep putting the pressure on them to make plays.
