Roxy15
I made this yesterday and it is a favorite. This makes quite a bit. Adjust ingredients to according to what you like. I just eyeball it most of the time, but, I wrote down most of the amounts that I used yesterday. Chili: Hamburger-(Used Probably A Little More Than 1/1/2 lbs. But A Little More Wouldn’t Hurt)-I Used What I Had On Hand 1 Package Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage 1-(10-oz.)-Pkg. Johnsonville Italian Hot Sausage 2 Large Green Peppers White Onions, Diced-(Eyeballed It) Garlic, Diced-(Eyeballed It) 1 Package Sliced Fresh Mushrooms 1-(16-oz.)-Can Sun Vista Pinto Beans 1-(14.5-oz.)-Can Hunts Diced Tomatoes 1-(26-oz.)-Can Ranch-Style Beans 1-(30-oz.)-Can Sunny Select Chili Beans 2 Packages Lawry’s Chili Seasoning Chili Powder-(Eyeballed It) 2 Small Cans Green Chiles, Diced 1-(32-oz.)-Carton Kitchen Basics Unsalted Vegetable Stock 1-(10-1/2-oz.)-Can Campbell’s Beef Broth Slice Johnsonville Italian Hot Sausage into thick slices; put in Dutch Oven. Add hamburger and Jimmy Dean’s Hot Sausage. Break up the meat while cooking. When the meat was done, I put a colander on top of an aluminum pie pan to make it easier to drain grease. Then I patted it some with a paper towel. This makes it much easier to get the grease off and you don’t have to worry about the meat going somewhere that you don’t want it to go! Will post a pic below. Put the meat in a large Dutch Oven; cover the top with chili powder. Add the rest of the ingredients: stir. Add more chili powder on top; stir. Cook on very low heat all day, stirring occasionally. ***You can use a crockpot but it will take more than one! Depends on the amounts you use! Serve in bowls and top with shredded cheddar cheese and soup crackers or crushed Saltine Crackers. Quote Link to comment
