BigRedBuster
i'm assuming most (all) of congress was in Washington this week for voting. Many fly home on weekends. I would absolutely love it if all flights out of Washington airports were canceled. Link to comment

BigRedBuster
Well, then maybe they should just stay in Washington. Or...they can drive. 2 Link to comment
jaws
I bet the government will be nice enough to prorate our taxes because of this shutdown. 1 Link to comment
StPaulHusker
I'm going to be very interested in what the spending bills will looks like if Trump declares a national emergency to obtain funding. Link to comment
StPaulHusker
All it took were some delayed flights. Link to comment

I suppose it does. But the silver lining is that hopefully the furloughed workers can get their back pay and another paycheck or 2 before it happens. It's not great. But he's slowly starting to fold. 3 Link to comment

That was my thought too. At least they can get a chunk of $. As to what the Democrats should do - I still think they should demand a lot in return if they vote for the dumb idea (aka the wall). DACA should be made permanent, for starters. Otherwise, they should never agree to it. 3 Link to comment

I do not want anyone to vote in favor of an additional $5.7B for a 50' concrete wall that will end up costing even more. I don't care what is offered in return. 3 Link to comment

I would agree with that with one caveat. I would be fine spending 5.7 billion on a worthless wall if permanent citizenship for DACA recipients and greatly improved immigration policy was in place making it easier for people to become citizens was part of the deal. In other words....there is no bill that is actually going to come forward that I would feel comfortable saying right now I would accept that includes the wall. Link to comment

There are probably things that would make it worth it. I just don’t know what those are. I would prefer if the Republicans stop bending over for Trump. 1 Link to comment
