what else is buried in our program? bothers me most that we evidently don't have a process for uncovering past transgressions with pending charges.....don't ask, don't tell?

I don't think any university or other entity can do any more than a background check and if nothing shows up then recruiting continues.  I'm not even sure we do a background check on all recruits at this time. There would be discussions with former coaches etc to get a brief history I'm sure.

Sorry, but I don't see much good coming from this kind of thread.

 

If there are specific situations supported by facts, then those are welcome and open for discussion. This kind of general speculation without any clear focus or direction is a poor idea.

By my count, two assaults, one battery, eight guys who cheated on a homework assignment in high school, four guys who threw too big of a party, a few who may or may not have tried marijuana, three who cheated on a girlfriend in high school, one guy who always drops his trash beside the can instead of in it, six guys who look at naughty pictures on the internet, one guy who got kicked out of the Fat Toad, twenty-two guys who sometimes complain about their homework to their tutors, two guys who occasionally skip a set in the weight room, one guy who obviously doesn't really want to be here because he considered transferring, three guys who really shouldn't be here because they were reaches by Riley, four guys who aren't really giving their best effort in Geology 101 and three guys who aren't of the most outstanding personal character.
