The University of Kansas is offering a course called ‘Angry White Male Studies’ for the Fall 2019 semester.

According to the university’s website, the course will talk “the rise of the ‘angry white male’ in America and Britain since the 1950s.” The description noted the course will dive into emotional states of the white man and what manifests the anger.

How in the heck did you originally post this July 19, 2018?

He time traveled. One would think he would have found something better to do with such powers at his fingertips, but he was probably really mad about this class and who knows what goes on in the mind of an angry white male.

Mod magic.

Actually, I keep a personal thread in a hidden part of the board with some Lorem Ipsum posts because all board posts are ordered based on their time stamp. This way, if I have to start a new thread, I can guarantee my post will be the first one.

Isn't "Lorem Ipsum" a spell from Harry Potter?

I'll add a serious comment. I was talking to a guy today who does banquets at casinos and he said he wished they could give all of the food they throw away to people in need, but if the did a democrat would choke and sue them so they can't do it. Democrat is the enemy to all things good fir this guy. In a way. I think that has happened with angry white men. To be clear, I do think that angry white men are at the top of the power structure, but its become a bit of a crying wolf situation. Lets stop whining about old angry white men and just beat them with better ideas. Having a scapegoat doesn't solve problems.

I would actually like to know what the main points they are going to discuss are.

I'll take a stab at this subject from a white middle aged man.  And..I know I'm going to get a lot of push back on this board for this...but, I don't care.  :)

There are definitely times when I need to step away from the key board or bite my tongue in conversations in certain groups.  I'm a white, 52 year old male Catholic who has a decent job and makes a fairly nice living, living in a rural farm community and a gun owner,.  Can you make any more of a profile of who to blame for all the problems in the world?

I seriously have to tell myself that each individual issue, like women's equal pay, is a legitimate issue and me personally isn't the problem.  The problem becomes that some people throw out generalized terms in discussions that make it sound like, because of my profile above, I'm part of the scourge of the earth.  I'm not....but, some people who are like me, are the problem.

So, getting back to the "Angry White Male".  I can see why someone like me can get angry at the world while being blamed for everything, if that person doesn't go through the thought process of what actually is going on and what is actually being said.

In today's world, it seems every group, label, etc has a bone to pick - there is anger everywhere.  I think it all started wt identity politics  when FDR was one of the first to use that type of political campaigning but it has been around since Cain was jealous of Abel.  Pit one group against another - create envy, fear and anger. This is what Trump did - he stirred up the group of people who were fearful of so many things and he got elected.  Play on people's fears, give them a reason to vote for you by promising you'll solve those fears-- fear blinds us to other realities - like Trump's unfitness for office.   So now the rest of us are angry that we have to put up wt this dufus for 4 years

This is a good thought. In addition to it, I also think it's genuinely easy for us white men to get 'angry' or very easily become exhausted and frustrated with things. There's a whole lot of things and issues in this world that just don't affect the majority of us personally in any way. So we don't see them as a big deal, and I think maybe unconsciously see our stoic coolheadedness as the ideal or the default. Especially if we don't live in much diversity. Then we get older and start hearing more and more people "whining" about all these problems and being so dramatic about issues that we think shouldn't seem so serious or that big of a deal. And then we keep hearing it. Over and over and over again. And some of us have our own real problems but it seems like all we hear is how s#!t is our fault and we don't really hear much about any legitimate struggles we face.

We all tend to forget how lucky we are - my project for the last few months has been, "Stop.  Breathe.  Listen.  Don't judge.  Ask questions.  Breathe."  It's hard, I tend to want to share all my knowledge and opinions to try and sway people instead of listening to why someone is saying something.  Trying to change that and at least give a pregnant pause before trying to change their mind.  :-)
