I think we need a Evan McMullin thread just to post his rational conservative thinking

I won the 2016 Election partially based on no Tax Returns while I am under audit (which I still am), and the voters didn’t care. Now the Radical Left Democrats want to again relitigate this matter. Make it a part of the 2020 Election!

Imagine if Ted Cruz were a constitutional conservative making a principled stand against Moscow’s disinformation and cyber attacks intended defeat the republic and against the amoral president who welcomed them and who now holds himself above the law. Imagine...

The Russia investigation is over. After 2 years of Dem & media hysteria, after millions of dollars, after 2800 subpoenas, the Mueller Report found NO collusion. There’s no need for another subpoena for @DonaldJTrumpJr It’s time to move on & focus on issues Americans care about.

Evan McMullin Retweeted Leader McConnell

Actually, no one has done more to encourage socialism in America than Donald Trump and Republican leaders who support him. Not even Bernie.

As long as Donald Trump is in the White House and I’m the majority leader of the Senate, we will not let America turn into a socialist country.

Evan McMullin Retweeted Senator Thom Tillis

Here Senator Tillis reflects the influence of Trump's base over even sensible Republican members of Congress facing 2020 challengers. Don Jr. lied to Congress to hide the Trumps' efforts to profit from Russia's attack. That matters to America, and it should matter to Tillis too.

I agree with Leader McConnell: this case is closed. The Mueller Report cleared @DonaldJTrumpJr and he’s already spent 27 hours testifying before Congress. Dems have made it clear this is all about politics. It’s time to move on & start focusing on issues that matter to Americans. https://twitter.com/WSJ/status/1126225660656214016

Sincere thanks go out to @SenatorBurr for having courage to pursue justice. May your fellow Republicans follow your example and stop protecting the Trump family. #CountryOverParty

Apparently the Republican chair of the Senate Intel Committee didn’t get the memo from the Majority Leader that this case was closed... https://www.axios.com/senate-intelligence-committee-donald-trump-jr-subpoena-russia-9c9ed1e6-63e4-4796-91c4-a20082e991d2.html

In her “Through Her Eyes” interview, Fiorina also dismissed Trump’s claim that special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference exonerated him.

“The report does not exonerate Trump,” she said. “If most people would read that report, I think they would conclude this is not the way someone in the highest office in the land should behave.”

I find it super interesting that Jr is able to "negotiate" terms for his appearance in congress in a few weeks.  Why in the world would you let anyone come in to a criminal probe and set the terms of what they will and won't answer?  Why was Trump allowed to answer written questions only about the time during his campaign, and not actions in office afterward?  Why is Jr. being allowed to avoid questions about the Russian adoption  meeting?

Because there is no rule of law while republicans hold govt.

republican controlled senate = negotiations for what softball questions will be asked and the inevitable conclusion that jr is totally and completely exonerated by the senate.

Oh look, money laundering.

Do you think Congress and/or the Southern District of New York or the New York Attorney General (both of whom Mueller was said to be coordinating with) would find any of this interesting at all?

Just slow down a bit. It's suspicious activity, but there is nothing in the article that states the transfers are verifiably money laundering activities. They were simply suspicious activity in the accounts of political candidate"s and their family members that we're reported to upper management.

That being said, it's very troubling for two obvious reasons. First that the transaction even took place and we're suspicious enough to be flagged gives you pause. Second, and most alarmingly, that they were waved off and ignored by the banks management. A bank who is already under scrutiny and punishment by the Federal Reserve for violating sanctions against Iran, and LAUNDERING RUSSIAN MONEY.

Now maybe there is nothing nefarious here but it's a little more than suspicious, and brings about a lot of questions. Maybe it's above board but the bank is over leveraged with a particular client and unwilling to invoke said clients wrath, since he is in a position of considerable power and influence

You're right. It's not conclusive proof. But if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck...

You're right. The important thing is this was reported and the appropriate people can investigate. Deutsche Bank has a history of Russian money laundering, as you said, and that's a huge red flag. I don't know why execs waved away concerns of an anti-money laundering expert but it seems shady as hell.

It's not really at all surprising Trump is fighting tooth and nail to keep his financials private given this context, is it?
