Listening to the commentary after, it sounds like the US's gameplan was to allow France to control possession, because they are uncomfortable with possession and prefer to counter attack?

Sounds like a philosophy I once heard about from a coach called “Bend Dont Break”. (aka making an excuse

for poor play ny acting like it was your plan all along)

Except in the this case the US coach had said before the game that France didn't like having possession.
