seaofred92
The Nebraska women narrowly missed the top 50 in the ITA rankings to finish the season finishing #51. Huskers were 11-4 (1-0) on the 2019-20 season and have some very promising freshmen/sophomores on the roster. It’s an exciting time in Lincoln for women’s tennis! Quote The Nebraska Women's Tennis team landed the No. 51 spot in the final 2020 ITA rankings. With an impressive 11-4 overall record and a 9-0 mark at home, the Huskers just missed out on a top 50 spot. Nebraska falls one spot behind No. 50 Florida International, despite sweeping the Panthers 4-0 at the Dillon Tennis Center. The Huskers finished the year 1-0 in Big Ten play, recording a 6-1 triumph at Rutgers on Feb. 26. Quote Link to comment

Novak was the first Husker to capture her championship, as she took first place in the Fall Circuit event in Wichita, Kansas, Oct. 24-26. Adrover Gallego then won another ITA Fall Circuit event in Wichita two weeks later. In the October event, a total of six Huskers competed in the women's main draw. It was a successful weekend as all six players advanced to the round of 16, including a trio who advanced to the semifinals. Novak went 4-0 and didn't drop a set on her way to the title. Adrover Gallego went 2-1, losing in a semifinal tiebreaker. Claire Reifeis posted a 3-1 record with a loss to Novak in the semifinals. Jessica Aragon, Anna Baranovski and Hayley Haakenstad each went 1-1 while advancing to the round of 16. Two weeks later, Aragon, Adrover Gallego, Reifeis and Haakenstad returned to Wichita, with Adrover Gaellgo capturing the title in the women's main draw. All four Huskers drew first-round byes and all four were then victorious in the round of 16 to earn a spot in the quarterfinals. Adrover Gallego and Reifeis each won their quarterfinal matches, with Adrover Gallego making the final. In the final, Adrover Gallego dropped the first set, 7-6 (7-4), before rallying to win the second set, 6-2. In the third-set tiebreaker, Adrover Gallego claimed the title with a 10-8 win. Overall, Nebraska players combined for a 20-8 record over the two weekends of play at the ITA Fall Circuit events. Congrats to Kristina and Isabel! 2 Quote Link to comment
